My Posts This: Topic Forum | Hey finally, I get to see some video of Sonny flying...
Keep working on your orientations...
Man, I did two stupid things in the span of two days...
Last weekend when I was flying my 450, the tail twisted 90 degrees, so the tail rotor was horizontal... needless to say, impossible to control so I had to hit throttle hold and let it fall to the ground. The frame was all bent, so I took it all apart, and put everything on a new heli.... (luv those HobbyCity $29 kits!)
Last night I had it hooked up to the computer setting up the SK360 flybarless unit, and somehow I accidentaly reversed the throttle channel! I heard the blades start, I have a super slow startup... and they got faster and faster, full negative pitch, so at least it didnt take off, but it was sitting on my laptop on a small table between the wife and I... I grabbed the boom (remembering to reach around the tail blades after slicing my hand open once before...) and picked it up as it kept spinning faster and faster... I have the Scorpion 2221-6 (4450kv) with a 13 tooth pinion, so its pretty insane headspeed... I got the wife to reach up and unplug the battery, so all ended well...
This morning I stopped on my way to work to fly, since its light out before 7am now... I took off, and couldn't figure out why it was so touchy... Oh yeah, I had removed the expo when I was setting up the flybarless... dialed in 10% and took off again, still insanely unstable, but I'm persistent if nothing else, so I flew around a bit, did some flips, tried inverted hovering, but just couldn't hold it... Turns out I had the SK360 in setup mode, where it doesn't do anything, it passes all stick movement straight to the servos... Well, now I know what it's like to fly without a flybar, AND without a flybarless controller... I won't make that mistake again...
Anyhow, just wanted to share my mistakes....
