The port side frame half on my xtreme 50 is sized to accept either a full size servo horizontally or a mini servo mounted vertically; I'm wondering if anyone is using this option and what servo has worked out well? Would the DS285 micro digital from JR hold up? There's such a light torque load on the throttle but speed is important, especially if you're using a gov to maintain constant head speed.

Jon,

I'm currently running a Futaba 9650 on my X50 and had to make some brackets to fit because its not quite a full servo and too large for a mini.

I plan to use a JR DS3421 on the throttle on my X90

I'm using a Hitec HS65HB for both the throttle and my mixture servo. They work great. The have more than enough speed and torque for the application. They have proven Xtremely (pun intended ) reliable.

Im actually using a HS56. It cost less and faster. I have the older frame though and had to modify it to accept a servo. Its working great though.

Best servo for throtle, cant go past INO-LAB HGD-202HB Digital.

They are an awesome little servo with good speed and carbon gears. Cheap Too!

Interesting choices, thanks for the options! I thought about using the Hitec HS65 or HS56 for the throttle but I've read that if you want decent response from the gov (multigov pro) you need a digital servo that is not only fast enough but has the resolution for quick and accurate adjustments. I'm guessing from the responses that's not entirely true or at least not a show stopper.

I'll have to look up the INO lab servo, never heard of that one before.

Not sure where you read that info, but the HS65's work great on my Multigov Pro. As I stated earlier, I'm using them for the throttle and mixture control. At 6v, they are plenty fast enough for a carburetor. Do a search for throttle servo and you will find out that speed, while important, is not critical for optimal governor performance.

Is everybody using Futaba S3156 despite of the fact, that Futaba states "Unfortunately, none of the Futaba mini or micro servos are designed for gas applications." ???

I'm using Hitec 56HB too. HS-81MG is also a good servo if you afraid plastic gear servo is easy stipped. Anyway, my HS56Hb have been using for 2 years and so far so good (crashed 4vtimes with one BIG crash!)

Inolab D202MG/HB or MKS DS530 are also good micro size servos with fast speed and reliable.

How do you fix those servos -> without gummy dumpers, right? But do they really last on nitro mashine w/o dampers?
