My Posts This: Topic Forum | They both get 50 percent of the blame, and if I was an officer who was called to that situation and listened to both sides that is what I would tell them UNLESS RC vehicles are prohibited from using the track, which I doubt.
See, the knothead truck guy was watching the truck, not what is ahead of the truck. It is unlikely that anyone was spotting for him, and we all know that he would not have been able to react fast enough to avoid the girl, and once the truck was airborne he had zero control.
The girl knew they were running the truck over on that jump, and she chose to ride over there anyway. She is old enough to know better, yet she defiantly chose to ride that jump. There were other jumps but she had to ride that one, because she was a typical defiant know-it-all teenager.
I'm tired of kids being looked at as innocent victims when they are old enough to know better. Yes, I have a daughter, and if that happened to her, after making sure she was okay I would ask her why she put herself in the situation. I wouldn't go "kill that guy", crap happens. If she wants to kick his arse, have at it, just be prepared to accept the consequences. But then I taught her to avoid stupid situations so I don't have to worry (as much) about it. She turns 18 this year and has made it relatively unscathed.
What is the right answer? To not run a large RC truck in a place clearly intended for another purpose if people are there. If that place is empty and it is not prohibited, fine. As soon as people show up to use it for it's intended purpose, it's time to leave it to them and take a break until they leave. |
