| with a geared tail you can push it as hard as you want. but with a belt drive tail if you pirouette too hard the belt can skip a tooth or strip hence throwing off your flying and possibly causing a crash....

I have found the opposite to be true. There is a well respected Heli manufacturer that I owned their top of the line heli, (NO, I will not name them) that I had complained to about stripping tail gears on a torque tube drive. At a fun fly I had that manufacturer set up my tail with all new gears, they then followed me out to the flight line and I proceeded to tear the gears apart. There answer was that the drive was never intended for that hard of flying. I have never been able to damage or "slip" a belt in the air.
As David and I said, there are pros and cons to both systems. Run what is best for your personal situation. What is best for me may not be best for you.
