I am curious about the one way bearing in this heli.
hope this one is better than the trex 600n

No one-way bearing in the main gear. It's a sprague clutch.

Mikado Logo 400, hopefully ready by spring.

Here is a picture of the fan assembly, it's nice too! Fan is really strong so no flexing or chances of deformation.

The Clutch and Clutch bell:

Main Frame Assy:

Airframe Complete:

Lot's of nice touches on this heli! the subtle ones are the best, just small touches but very neat little ideas and shows that alot of thought has gone into the 700! For example the head block has a relief machined into it to allow the blade grip to spin around the head block completely without hitting the hub, so if you crash you don't chew your head block to bits or if you build them the wrong way up you just pin them and their sorted!

looking at those kits, they don't seem far off being production ready. I take it these are the pre-production prototypes? to work out any build manual errors and things like that?

Knowing Align, i'm betting a 2-3 week on official release.

Going on Align's previous track record the i think we could expect to be seeing these hit the shops in about a month, which is only 4 weeks!!! I think it may be that the first batch is small like the 600N was and that most will be sold on pre-orders but then we will see bigger batches follow.

FAN

Thanks for the pic of the fan. Wow - that's not what I expected. Very interesting. Man - is that thing big enough to keep the engine cool? I guess it is if it's already working.

Clutch and clutch bell

My only experience is with 50s - But I was hoping that the Trex 700 would have 2 bearing blocks for the Clutch bell/pinion assembly. I know there are 2 bearings, but the whole thing is mounted with basically one "bearing block". Two separate bearing blocks would locate it much better structurally.

Anyway, my question is do other 90's only use this one bearing block, or do they indeed locate this assembly to the frame with 2 bearing blocks???

Clutch and clutch bell

WOW! I was just looking at the manual for the Vibe 90. That assembly is located with 2 separate bearing blocks. Not only that, they designed it so that the assembly also locates the main shaft. That way they control the distance between the pinion and the main gear with the assembly, and not with the frame. That's sweet!

Speaking of the clutch bell, there looks like two machined pockets for governor magnets? Is there a provision in the manual as to where to mount the governor sensor?

If you check this pic

You can see that the sensor mounting holes for the govenor are pre drilled, just above the clutch bell.

In the kit is supplied a plastic mount and some small screws, which attach the bracket to the side frame at the position just above the clutch bell and then you secure your sensor to the bracket. What we did was to use a CSM Revlock sensor bracket for a Synergy/Trex600 and mounted the sensor to it in the normal way and then secured to the plastic bracket.

Cheers!

Oh yeah!

This thing is RAPID!! PROPER RAPID!!!

These machines have been flown over the weekend at the 3DX Clubman Event at Goole and we have been more than impressed with them.

It has awesome Cyclic and Pitch Reponse and Power!!

Yes, very RAPID

Absolutely loving mine, so quick and accurate on all control axis, the tail is top notch too, able to run massively high gains on a nitro for a change!

A friend of mine had a go at the weekend and instantly fell in love with it, I think it's safe to say he's getting rid of his vibe and the 700 will be the replacement. Personally I've never ever flown another heli that handles like this, JK and Align have worked wonders and the machine feels ultra light in the air but without the tendancies of light aircraft misbehaving in heavy winds and no pitchyness.

Itching to go out again today but I have to do some work

I've just seen the 700 in the flesh tonight at fast-lad.co.uk and I think once you’ve seen it you will have to have one, no updates will be needed for this monster it has everything.
Can’t wait for mine

I'm not dissing the Trex 700 Clutch Bell assembly - just posting how the Aurora does it and the Vibe 90...

They both use 2 bearing blocks to locate the assembly to the frame.

Vibe 90 Clutch Bell assembly.

The 700 has 3 stacked bearings in a single plastic carrier, 2 large lower bearings support the pinion and then a single spaced out bearing in the carrier closer to the top supports the starter shaft.

I have to say that once the whole clutch bell assembly is together it is unbelievably solid.

Cheers!
