I sell products that require weights down to the 10th of a gram. (no not drugs) a tenth of a gram is 2-3 drops of water i have weighed my blades out of the package with in this amount......Is that not close enough?
Just looking for teckneeks...thanks all

No, it's not close enough. You should have your blades balanced so that a piece of scotch tape (clear stuff) the size of your fingernail will throw it out of balance. A tenth of a gram out will still cause vibration. Trust me, I tried my scale too before I bought a balancer.

you need both an accurate scale that goes to 1/100 of a gram AND a balancer if you want perfect balance.

I don't understand why you need a scale too. I would consider mine to be perfectly balanced. To me it dosen't matter what they weigh as long as they're equal. Care to enlighten us?

It is easier to get the static balance of the blade exactly on with a scale. My normal procedure is to get static balance spot on, and then dynamically balance them.

Just get Align Balancer get 2 coffee mugs and balance them with some scotch tapes at the end of the blade.
Will be good enough for Blade 400 to do anything with. If you're working larger heli then they will need to be balanced with weight.

First you must find the COG. then go on to balance. Dont put tape at the end of the blade, always put the tape @ the COG. This way you will not through off the COG.

My LHS and local pro's said cg is never going to make a difference on 400/450 sized blades. (325mm). Could someone explain to me what I stand to gain?

What you stand to gain is a smoother running helicopter!! Less vibrations to "upset" your gyro, etc.

The question is - Why wouldn't you take 5-10 minutes to check their balance and correct it if necessary??

Watch the above referenced video for how and why!!

I would like to see that vid but after half an hour of cookie this and browsing history that it's still not working for me and I can't believe how frickin stupid they have the whole thing set up. I'm gonna quit before I throw my mouse through the screen. If you find another link or a way to get in there I'm definately interested but otherwise that will be my last ever visit to helifreak.

I would, if it will do anything. My heli dosen't have any vibration. Silky smooooooooottttttttttthhhhhhh. (lol) Like I said I've been told all along not to bother because it won't accomplish anything with such small blades. Who knows, maybe they just weren't interested in explaining it. These are the same group of guys that said not to balance my tail blades, but I did anyway and have a smoother running heli to show for it. I'll do some digging and try it out. I'll post back here after a couple flights and see if I can notice a difference. It may be hard to tell though because I just went from +8/-8 to +12/-12 last night so that's probably going to be what I'm noticeing. Oh well, we'll see I guess.

That's what I use for 400 blades and I also made ones for my smaller blades too. work extremely well. I did proper CG on blades too, didn't make thing any more smoother at all.

I have a uncut zip tie sticking out under the heli, it used to be able to tell vibrations with that. after balance no vibes at all. Save your self headaches and Keep it simple.

Balancing stand

Great balancing stand 05Star!! I thought you guys drank Labatt's Blue "up there" ??!!

I've got some new blades to check and think I'll use a pair of Labatt's holders today!

JB

ps Based on the parts, it looks like you have a CX there also!

I have the main rotor blades balanced but I'm still getting vibration that shows up on the horizontal tail fin. How do you balance the tail blades?
