Why is it's nickname TT Hemi?

I believe at this point the nickname should be TT Aurora.

I got a helicopter for my girlfriend,
Hope she doesn't outfly me soon!

Same reason my old car is...

The engine utilises a hemispherical combustion chamber design....So the name Hemi is used - Same as Dodge Hemi's etc etc

It was an original 2 Barrel R/T and I threw on the 6-Pack running gear with some motor mods as well.

I sold it to a couple a few years ago in WA actually. You may have even seen it around WA !!

I went from a Hemi to a Flat Six...

Ive only seen a red one in that nice a condition around Perth.
My brother used to have a Charger, had everything E49 on it, even the VIN number was only 1 digit out.
He bought it that way of an old retired guy, had it under a tarp under a plumb tree.
Had the track pack 36 gallon fuel tank with twin fillers, webber tripples, 4 speed, dana diff, all badge work etc.
It needed a full resto and he didnt have the cash so it was sold.
I loved that car, went like the clappers too

If you bling it, they will come :D

May have been mine as the photo above kinda looks a little too orange than what the car actually looks like.

The actual colour of the car is Hemi Orange which tends to lean more towards a red colour more so than orange.

Anyway back on topic...

As far as the weight of the TT106 is concerned - I will assume that the weight increase over the current 91's will be smaller than the power gains made by the larger displacement - especially in the torque dept.

We are discussing 'Vaporware' here anyway, as far as I'm concerned...

The Dodge is called a hemi because of the hemisphere on the top of the piston.

Does the TT106 have the same hemisphere?

It would be nice to see some real specs on this motor.

Why is it only a two needle carb?

If it is anything like the Redline 53 you only need two needles..
Mine runs really nice through the whole rpm range.

Ya but the Redline 53 has three needles so I guess the 106 will have that third needle as well.

Why make things difficult when you can make it easy to adjust?

Perhaps there are waiting to see if the FAI is going to change to rules to make it legal. As I understand it now you can’t fly anything larger than a 90 if it uses nitro fuel.

Um, I highly doubt that is the issue. After all, how many 'weekend warriors' are concerned if an engine is FAI sanctioned? I would say that the sole thought is 'can I shoehorn the b@stard into my 90 airframe'.

I still believe the engine is Vaporware. After all, how long ago was this engine first announced (over a year ago)? Even if it does eventually come out people will be so over the wait that they'll largely boycott this motor IMHO.

It's highly likely that OS and YS will beat them to the punch anyway.

Vaporware: 'Products announced far in advance of
any release (which may or may not actually take place).'

Jagnz,

If you put the Redline 53 in your 600N after removing your OS 50 you might understand or better accept the production wait for the 106 Redline. The potential for your Align 90 powered 700 to move faster just like with a 53 powered 600N could be possible. Obviously they are carefully tweaking the engine and exhaust so it meets or exceeds past Redline performance gains. I'll just fly the same stuff until it comes out, patiently.

If you look at things pushed out the door quickly for production economics you'll sometimes see snapped bolts, failed freewheels, crap ball links, failed swashplates bearing seals, stripped gears, fans with runout and generally lower overall quality. I'd think you would appreciate the disadvantages or letting the modeler do the production testing.

The motor has been out for over a year with no release date so I wouldn't hold your breath.

It'll be released when it's released.

Kind of like waiting for the Avant.

the motor has not been out for a year, we showed a sample motor at Toledo in 2008 in early march 2009 jeff started to fly one a prototype and from there more samples are being made so would like me to say two weeks that nuts, Like I always do I will keep you posted if things change but for the time being still testing and flying that’s the bottom line Dino.
