"What a big jump! From a 0.90 to a 1.06...is that even legal?"

Yes, perhaps the government of the United Nations will take a dim view of this renegade engine.

Legal, nothing says you can't install a slightly bigger engine in any helicopter. Gassers use 26cc engines and I'd hate to caculate the displacement of a powerful turbine compressor

Bergen have or had a twin cylinder engine installed into a helicopter.
If contest governing bodies made the 106 illegal it would do little to hamper normal people from using it.

It's not that big of a jump when you think about it. 46 engines moved up to 53 (15%)with no problem and the ramping factor is similar for a 91 to 106 (17%)situation. I expect the only ones to whine would be based upon if and when this engine pans out and you know who that'd be hey?!

If the TT106 is competitively priced similar to the TT53 is and if the power is very good, this engine is the choice.

Hard to predict the fuel usage increase before it is fact. My YS91's use a lot less fuel than my YS 80's. The timming seemed to blow raw fuel inside my canopy and all over. I think ther might be a couple dozen guys that compete seriously in the USA. The rest of us just fly for fun. TimT

This is just 5 pages of SPECULATION. There has not been one pic of one yet whatsoever. I have followed this thread since it began.

Right now it is pure vaporware. There is not one singe running prototype. If there is post a pic and prove me wrong. I would be happy to be wrong.

Ah.. OK. Go to the very first post of this topic and you will see a pic of the new 106 Redline.. Note the front engine mount up by the front bearing.. it is not a pic of the RL53, but indeed the mighty 106..

or here..

It is a pic of an engine that doesn't exist. That pic is a engine in a airplane crankcase. The front mounting tabs are for a pattern ship. I want to see a working prototype in a heli.

as a matter of fact they used to for tight coweled in installations. The point is they used an existing part because the real one does not exist. Post a pic of a running prototype in a heli. There are none.

Futura SE, I could be wrong, but from what I know, thundertiger don't make any plane engine that uses two screws to mount the carb like on the redline series. Also, the word REDLINE is on the crankcase itself, again, AFAIK, the only red line that is available to public now is the smaller 53rl heli engine isn't it? I mean, why will thundertiger go all to way to make a big block redline crankcase and heatsink to create a fiction engine if there is absolutely no plan of a release? Just because its got those mounting legs doesn't make it a pure pattern engine. From what has been told, the tab is just held on by o-rings and is removable.

If that is really a plank engine, which engine did tt sourced the parts from, apart from the head?

Not sure on that? the only engine I know that also has the front mounting tabs is the OS70 Heli engine, and that was prpmoted as a 3D motor.. But notice the design didn't make it onto the 90SZH.. Yet.. No other OS engine is shown on the OS site with them..
