Thanks stph280!

Thought some of you guys would like to know I did a version of this color scheme and the blue one for RealFlight. Just go to the knifedge.com swap pages and you will see it.

Hey guys,

I finally got some energy to get working on the heli again. Been battling an inner ear infection for a week now,,,,man it sucks!

I got the tail section roughed out. I cut the tail cone a bit bigger before not realizing the boom would go in quite a bit. Overall the fit is very good. I sanded the back of the cone and put very thin plywood on the back soaked in thin CA. I than (still need to) fill it with bondo.

I also had to cut some of the mounts off the tail case as in the pics. Now just to connect the pushrod and see how it goes.

The torque tube version would be much easier to work with here...but the belt drive is good too

Are you using the screws still to hold the gear box together? or using a zip tie?? getting close to this step on my setup and just want to do it right.

Hey guys, been a long time.

I got the urge to get the heli done again so here are some pics. I spent about 2 nights trying to get the retracts to work with little luck. If you do this they bind this way, if you do that they bind that way. I finally drilled the hole were the pushrod goes through and it worked. The pushrod can move side to side much more.

I also made a mock up of gear door and found a Hitec 50 servo (or such) is an easy fit! I am just going to put 2 on there, one for each door, have them work with the gear etc. Now the 12X is going to really come in handy

You can see the small HS-50 servo in there, direct links, adjust the ATV and speed and it sould be great!

Now to work on the exhaust so it comes out of the exhaust stacks.

are you running a tuned pipe or do you have to go with a muffler to make it all fit on a trex

New Bell 222 build started

Hi Guys..

Got my 222 back from the CopterDoctor with his retract gear mod done... He did a great job on the gear and I wanted to put my own touch on the nose gear doors along with putting a landing light (a www.diyrc.com lighting system) on the nose gear. I haven't done the light yet but wanted to share my progress so far..

Here's the gear doors in progress..

Here is the nose gear doors completed.. Double click the center of the video and it will open full screen..

(Click "Watch in high quality)

The gear retracts just a tad to fast for real scale.. What do you guys recommend for slowing them down? I'm using a HiTec HS-75BB retract servo which I hear cannot be slowed down...

Thanks

Grant,
They look awesome

How did you hook them up? Did you use two servos like Tausnc is using?

As for the servo, I used a EMS GoSlow:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...?&I=LXPNV2&P=WR

Works great.

As for the light you PM'd about, I may have to send you one of mine. I think I have an extra one.

If you have any plans or drawings for you retract doors, send them my way

Thanks.. I looked at the EMS GoSlow but it's not for retract servos. Not sure I'm going to be able to slow it down unless someone has an idea on how to do it on a retract servo..

Emile uses one servo to retract all the gear.. Very cool on how he does it..

Nose Gear Landing Light

Finished with the nose gear landing light install... the light comes on when the gear is extended and goes off when the gear is retracted...

I created a cam on the gear rotating shaft with a switch...

Here's the landing light..

Here's a YouTube of the light in action...

Grant,
That looks so great!!!!!!!! Can I send you mine and have to do that

Just wanted to add a great find(for me at least). I read on another scale thread that people use 'Dimensional Fabric Glue' for rivets. Well I went to a couple of stores last week and could not find any. The stuff I did buy did not work. Fast forward to last night. I was looking for some tape in our cupboard and low and behold, right in front of me was a bottle of 'dimensional fabric glue'. Hot dang!

So, I went out and tried a little sample on some paper. Then some plastic. Hey, works pretty good. So...I started on my Bell 222 fuselage.

What do you think?

Very nice PM, thank you!

The rivets are extremely easy. Once you get going it goes really fast. I went to Michaels craft store today and purchased some more glue with color. It is just like paint. You can match the paint with your paint on the fuselage and not have to worry about painting over. Very exciting stuff. What you see in the pictures I did in about 1 hour.

This is the stuff I use:

I found and got my solution for the anti-rotation problem for the bell!! Now have I no excuse not to continue with my build heheheee.

I was thinking, pondering how NOT to have to cut into the bells top since I am using the nitro version of the 600 and the anti-rotation for the swash is in the front. Ponder long enough and Align will come out with the answer!!!

I got mine today, Awesome quality. Perfect fit.
