We are sponsored by Beam so take whatever I say with grain of salt.

We've been flying our Beam for about 9-10months now.


Things that wear:

Tail slider (the integrated aluminum ball will wear)
I hope they separate the ball from slider and include real stainless ball.

Things that do not break:

The new painted canopy. We had a crash yesterday with that beautiful painted canopy. The verdict Canopy 1 ground 0

We have yet to strip a main gear in a crash yet. We replaced the original one a month ago due to wear after about 100 flights.
We could have continued to use it but chose to replace it because we had parts.

Things that need better securing:

The tail bell crank mount on the tail case can twist and ride over the spot face on the tail case which makes it tough for a single screw to hold it in place. When assembling this part, use red locktite on the joining face so it would be tougher to twist during a crash.

There is only one pair of gears meshing so this thing is eerie quiet.

Things that can't be replaced easily:

SWE rotors

I love these blades (again sponsored) but 325mm are harder to get even for us. They are smooth and good but hard to get. So if you got them, keep them stashed until you get spares and use some other blades to practice with and take out SWE on special ocations like funflies.

Things that need adjusting:

The stock canopy hole makes the canopy droop and bob up and down. I fit the canopy in place and butt it against the fron strut. I then pick up the nose so it does not droop any more. I press the canopy against the pointy canopy mount to mark the new location and drill and use this new hole. I believe it looks better (personal preferance) and removes the unwanted slop.

few more things to add

Things do not break at least they survive 7 crashs:
1) Frame.
2) Landing skid.

Things that need better securing:
1) Swashplate. Put lock tide when do assembly. Otherwise it wear out pretty soon. The stock one come in 1 piece abd no lock tide at all.
2) Tail bearing that sit into the tail gear box. Put bearing locktide around the bearing before push them into gear box. It wear out pretty soon also.

Thing that wear out fast
1) Tail belt, if too loose they wear out fast.
2) Ocationally, put light oil on tail belt pulley bearing. You will hear Bird chirpping sound if it's too dry.

Sometimes Advantage does not use the online US mail system to print their mailing labels. I have been in Advantage's warehouse many times and I can attest that they ship all of their orders out the same day if they receive it before 11:00 am and the next day if received thereafter. In the case of the Beams, they have inventory of kits and parts so I think you will end up getting a nice gift in the mail by Monday or Tuesday.

Now, if there is some kind of problem with your billing or mailing address, I can't speak to that....But for sure Advantage is the fastest of the big full product on-line shops which sell Helis, Planes, Cars & stuff)(note: I know that there are some specialty shops like ReadyHeli that do a great job at same day shipping as well).

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I ordered one on Sunday, it shipped on Monday and I'll be getting it on Wednesday according to UPS. I think that's pretty fast for regular ground shipping although I agree it's much better if you can get parts locally.
