Doh! Sorry about the wreck, get it fixed quick man - that turnigy motor will make it well worth the trouble! I just flew mine with the gold turnigy on 14t pinion, kasama head, green paddles, 2200 tp v2's, and it is just plain flat-out on fire. Headspeed at 100% is ~3700rpm. That heli will scoot like a raped ape.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		i just got the gold turnigy e500 motor and im just wondering if my mini titan plastic blade grips can handle the power and head speed? what would be the highest hs and still be ok to use the stock plastic grips? i have the g-force headblock with plastic grips.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I fitted the turnigy motor, (called x 500 here) 4000 kv to my std mini as my upgraded kasama mini seemd to have much higher headspeed on std motor. Be aware that the high headspeed will put enormous strain on the std head as well as blades! I had a very close call as the brass bush in the carbon blades milled a slot right up to the point where I had 1mm left before it would have exploded in mid air by throwing a blade.
Buy only the best and most rigid blades if you use this motor (I use radix on my kasama) and frankly I would turn it down on the stock pinion with the std head.
You are looking for trouble when using this motor at the higher headspees w/o upgrading the rest of your equipment, Im now also converting this one to Kasama w radix blades

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I've been running the green Turnigy motor on a stock plastic head for many many flights (at least 40-50 so far?) without any signs of abnormal wear. At 100% throttle the headspeed calulates to ~3450 at 90% efficiency. Yes, that's pretty honking fast, but the heli is holding up fine thus far. I guess that the orange paint has started chipping in spots since flying it with the greenie, but that just makes the heli lighter. I also make sure to fly it out farther from myself, just in case.

Here is a pic of my MT with the stock plastic head (original plastic grips, not the newer beefed-up plastic grips), the greenie, stock esc (not the newer one with the heatsink), radix, running the 13t pinion, calculated headspeed ~3450 rpm. Flying weight with a TP 2200 v2 is 824gms.


My latest incarnation is this one, with a Kasama head, the goldie, Century 60amp esc, radix, green paddles, running a 14t pinion, calculated headspeed of ~3700rpm. Flying weight with a TP 2200 v2 is 868gms.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I was able to test fly mine today. Crazy stuff! I could not belive how strong that sucker is. What is really funny is that you get the best of both worlds. You can tame it right down and hover all day or kick it up and do piro tic-tocs as hard as you want. Cant beat the price for this little monster. On 3s it out powers the jgf500 any day(little hotter though). I'd say it good for both beginners and advanced....

Yep, mild to wild, plus it's only $17.55. And flight time seems to be about the same as the stock motor. Glad you like it! My original greenie is still going strong, despite the hot running temps.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Just trying to go easy on my batts. I do have idle 2 set to 100% so if i feel like getting low and snappy i can. My motor pulles apart too. It's just because it's made for a heli and doesn't have the locking clip on the shaft like the planker motors do.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I haven't had any problems with the motor pulling apart in flight, although I think I will put a collar on mine to prevent that since it would be simple and lightweight insurance against gear damage.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Thegamer, Lol no your not! Scorpion -6 on 14T with 100% flat would give you 4100HS! Even if your heli could handle that speed you wouldn't get 6 mins flight time! Even just hovering I bet you wouldn't get 3 mins!

Minimum load:
3.1*3*3595*0.9 = 30090
150/14T= 10,71
30090/10.71 = 2809 rpm

Under load:
2.8*3*3595*0.9 = 27178
150/14T= 10,71
27178/10.71 = 2537.6 rpm

So I have a real headspeed between 2500 and 2800 rpm

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I once tachoed mine with the Scorpion -8 with a 12T at 0 pitch at 2900 with a laser tachometer, a 14T would give around 3300!

Gonna keep flying my Scorpion 2216-12 (13T) for now as I get 8-1/2 mins. of sport flying with 3S 2250's and a throttle curve of 100-95-90-95-100. As soon as my skills get to mild 3D I will put on the Turnigy and let her rip!!!

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Me and my Buddy put one of those motors in his Belt CP, we had to do a few mods, we had to slot the holes in the heli so it would fit, we had to put the pinion gear on upside down so we had to put a flat spot on the end of the shaft for the set screw (12 tooth pinion that come with the motor).

The problem we are having is the motor doesn't want to turn, it tries but it just seems to jitter/shake like it wants to turn. The mesh is a little tight but it doesn't seem to be any tighter then the mesh on my Mini Titan, the ESC is an Align 35A and the battery is the E-Sky 11.1v 1800mah.

Can someone give me a hint why it is doing that? I'm thinking the pinion gear is to big or the mesh is to tight, the stock pinion on the E-Sky motor was a 9 tooth. We even tried to help the motor spin by pushing the spur gear by hand but that didn't work. Any help would be great, thanks.

The motor works great when it's not in the heli.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		According to ace hobby's formula your head speed would be aprox 3088 rpm with a 4000kv motor. In their manual it uses the formula.

Motor rpm= motorkv x volt{3.7} x series x constant [0.8}
head speed=motor rpm/gear ratio
gear ratio= 150/ motor pinion

4000 x 3.7 x3 x .8 = 35520
Gear ratio = 11.5
head speed= 3088

Is this formula incorrect?
