My Model Avionics doesn't say anything either... But my old Minature Aircraft does and that is the info I had listed... Will be interesting to see if the new one will do the same.. I have never bothered to try the new one!!!
Sandy any part number for the blades you are running??? Guess it is time for me to "upgrade"!!!
Thanks Stan

Stan,

You need to bite the bullet and get youself a good set of Hirobo FRP
blades! You can get a set from a guy in Japan for about $500 for a set of 6 balanced blades! They are the nicest and smoothest blades you will ever fly on your Vertol!

Oops!

My Vertol does not have NHP blades, it has Hi- Products blades from Japan. Sorry for any confusion that I may have caused.

The part number of the Hi-Products blades (set of 3 CW and 3 CCW) is #010-100, and the price on the box was 37,000 yen for the set when I last bought them from M.A.

Hello Paul,
I'm very sorry, Hi Products 010-100 is not available anymore. Would you like to have the Hirobo blades for your Vertol instead ? If so, please advise the part # and I'll check the price and availability for you.
Thanks

Eddie,

The link / website shows the 46cm and 48cm blades in a set of 3. Are they fully symmetrical blades that can be mounted upside down as well? If not then we will need clockwise and counter-clockwise (anti-clockwise for those in the U.K.) blade sets.

Thanks,
Sandy

Width Too???

I just checked one of my wood blades....and it is 475 to the center of the bolt hole and 40mm cord.....
And I am betting these will be symmetrical.......but we do need to know...
The ones listed show 460 or 480 and 50mm cord..... either should create quite a bit more lift???? I am thinking of trying the 480's.... any thoughts... I have plenty of power on electric.....

Thanks, Stan

Hey guys!

Hirobo designed their blades for the Vertol/Chinook with a purpose! They used semi-symetrical blades (flat bottoms) to add a bit of stability to the heli, as they are a bit of a handful anyway! I think you will find that using a symetrical blade will make it a little bit more unstable, especially with the lower rotor speed! If you can't find anybody else that makes a semi-symetrical left hand and right hand balanced set of blades, you might be better off using their wooden blades, which I think fly great, if you do not want to spend $500.00 or so for the Hirobo FRB blades! You can get the wooden blades for about $95.00 a set of three!

Wood vs Glass...

Richard,
I agree that the semi's work well... but woods can/are a PITA at times... and as far as the lift... I am thinking that the NHP's with the added 10mm cord will make up for the difference in the lift and also run smoother and easier being thinner.....
I have seen Sandy run his CW's and CCW's and they did look good....
I have a brand new set of the woods waiting to be built, but I am still quite tempted to try a couple of sets of the NHP's just to see what they will do and what the difference will be....
Will let you know if I give them a try..... might just stick with the woods... I am having no problems flying them.... just the time it takes to build them properly!!!!!

Thanks, Stan

The bearing soak is great, use with high speed oil afterwards, but the bearing soak works great as a oil too, the air power is added to fuels like glow fuel, I add it to turbine fuel mix also. The Air Power can be used as a afterrun oil and also as a spot oiler too. I have used all these products in their former names, including the tail rotor grease. I have used their products for probably 15-20 years, I have an original shuttle that flew alot many, many years ago, and still does from time to time, has all original bearings including the original OS 28FSR-H and looks/runs like new. Use of the best lube possible, used often, makes things run like new for a long time. Take it from a Maintenance Professional, lubrication is the key to long service life, these oils pentrate bearing shields, and work like magic, try them, I'm sure you won't be disapointed with how they work. $50 for the 4 products and you'll have lube for a couple of years, pays for itself in saved bearings or even worse in flight failure.

Would somebody be able to post a copy of their Castle-Link Program Settings Report that are using the EFlite 60 motor and the CC 85HV ESC? There seems to be so many conflicting ways as to how the esc should be setup, I’m not sure if I have it right using the latest firmware.
I have watched the videos on the 85hv setup, they contain allot of good information, but the latest firmware is so different to what they are using.
I tried mine using Gov High to achieve a head speed around 1600, but it feels very sluggish, so I am wondering if I should be using different settings.

Head Speed

Finally got mine back in the air today and we tach'd it at 1660 in a hover and in forward flight.... for idle up one with a straight line of 75%....
I hope to be able to pull the fuselage tommorow and I will check the settings on my HV85 to see how they compare to yours....
I didn't get the chance to try the glass blades as of yet though, since I was not too happy with a couple of settings in my tx and I want to open up the fuse so that I can check things over and make some mechanical trims to clear some (TOO MUCH) trim that I had to add to fly it today.... but it still looked great going around the field...

CC85HV setup

Hi all, I’ve just loaded the latest firmware from Castle Creations (ver. 3.13), I am using the EFlite 60 motor with the CC85HV and the 12 tooth pinion and 8S lipo’s.
Using governor high I can achieve three different head speeds using Norm (1450), ST1 (1550) and ST2 (1600), which I have tached to confirm. I am using flat line throttle curves, 32% in Norm, 38% in ST1, and 40% in ST2
If I try to use Set RPM mode, the tached head speed is down by about 250 RPM using the same settings, also if I enter head speeds above these amounts it comes up with an error message saying that the head speed is too fast for the battery gearing combination. Entering details using a 13 tooth pinion it then says I can use head speeds above 1600 without any problems.
Has anybody else come across this situation? I know some of you are using head speeds above 1600, are you having any problems? What Governor mode are you using, Gov High or Set RPM?
Stan have you checked your settings yet?

Michael,

I am using Gov High on all of my CC HV85's, and it works great on my Hirobo CH-47 Chinook! I set my throttle curve to 0 then 89.5% straight across, which gives me 1560 headseed and it flys great! As far as the helicopter spooling up too fast in Gov Mode and the blades coming out of phase! First of all, you might want to tighten you blades a little bit more, as mine spools up quickly and the blades do not move! But, even if they do come out of phase a little, they would not hit each other as there is too much inertia for that to happen, and they will rephase themselves when the rotor spead increases!

Richard
