IS THIS THREAD STILL ACTIVE?

Has anyone modified their E-smart to direct CCPM?

I am looking for large servo arms(24mm) to put on scanner mg servos.

Esmart

I fly my Esmart Almost Every day...in fact I just flew it 4 times this morning..

Honestly I see NO reason to convert it to direct CCPM...there really is no benefit in my eyes...the setup right now actually puts less stress on the servos in a crash and it also allows you to use a push/pull setup..

why change it?

BTW...Rhampton(Reggie) this is a Roxxter 55

What's up Jag72uuuu.,...What's goin on.....I Flew my Esmart yesterday and i'm learning so much...i agree with you on that conversion too..it's perfect just like it is..Fpainter,,i would Chill on that man.....Enjoy it for what it is...It Flies awesome.....Take it from Jag72..He's the Man.....We get a lot of good advice from him.....I'm trying to get him to sell me one of his 90's...ha ha......
Well getn back to the Esmart,,,,The only Mod i did to mine was a bigger Canopy, Raptor Landing Skids and some Noodles...ha ha....I love the way it looks with them on and it helps on the hard landing...LOL.......I got laid off from my Job so now i'm flying all day....But damm i need some more batteries...Yo Jag72, u got anymore Evo 5s 3700mAh i can buy from you? I bought 2 from you and they are still working perfect..i need another 2 more...Damm i see why people are swithing to Nitro now...I'm tired of using Freakn Batteries...startin to become a pain....But it's all good,,,,i still enjoy Flying....The only problem i'm having is my Radio..i see to get a Serious Jerkish movement when i go up and down..i Fooled around with the Pitch Curve..i made it 20-32-50-60-95....Kind a odd but it took a little away but now it's acting strange...i need a very smooth lift off...i need some negative pitch but it's too much...Too Jerky and Risky for me as a beginner..Anyone know a good pitch curve setting?

My Mini book recommends a -4,0,10 pitch curve and I run a -2,0,10 curve. That equates to 40,45,50,75,100 for the latter.

Advice taken on the direct CCPM conversion. I may still fool with it later if I can find 25 mm arms for these servos.

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/...?idProduct=3880

They have the beef and power to directly drive the swash.

Servos

No need for 25mm arms...those would be fine with any servos arms?

Thanks for the Radio setting TjinGuy....i pretty much have a similar setting...i tested it again last evening and so far it seems to be a little smoother...Now i'm practicing side to side Flight...I almost turned it nose towards me..i got nervouse so i didnt complete that challenge....Wow nose towards you is really a challange....I didnt realize how much anxiety one could have trying to practicing that.....i see i have a long way to go before i do that..Side to side is a little easier and going up and down...

I have an align 600l motor,1620kv so I am using a 4s 4000. In theory it should work and provide about 2000rpm headspeed. But I fear it is too small.

wow, your using a 4s? i didnt think it would Fly well...hmmm i guess...Damm, maybe i should try my 3s 1800mAh Evo..U neverrrrr know huh? LOL..
Hwy Fpainted, you should get some Raptor 50 Landing Skids...They look cool on the esmart..i also hate that little Canopy they provide..Theres so many that will fit perfect on the Esmart without affecting the Flight....if your not into looks so much and just concerned with Flying then that's cool...i love to make the appearance of the Heli look a little larger but not sacrifice performance....I dont have it setup for 3d at this point but i so love the way it Hovers and Flys around....

i saw a 6s 5000 for $219 on a clearance. I might go for that but something interrupted me..i saw a Raptor 90 on Ebay for $120 with no motor, eletronics or blades...I'm thinking of getting that so i can start building slowly...i always wanted a 90 size Heli...JAG72,,,if your there, this is your last chance to sell a 90 if you have one...ha ha....where are u.....

Maiden voyage

I flew the E-smart for about 8 min.
The Align 600l motor(1620kv),Align 75a ESC, 4sp 25c 4000ma battery provided plenty of head speed for sport flying with wooden blades. After the flight the components were warm to the touch-not hot. calculated max head speed with this set up is about 2200rpm.

Another flyer has used this 1600kv motor and 4s batteries with good results.

Wow thats pretty Kool..I'm using a 5s so i guess i'm ok...I wonder now is it worth investing in a 6s 5000mAh Battery? What do you think. I wonder how much more Time and quality i would get going to a 6s especially if your getting 6 to 8 minutes on a 4s....

6s on the esmart

6s will work fine but the headspeed will be a bit high for just learning..

Flight times will not increase all that much by going to 6s ...but if you go with a 5000mah pack it will increase flight times ...but then the heli will be very nose heavy and you'll have some CG issues to contend with ...

I wouldn't recommend a 5000mah pack on this heli..

Really? no 5000mAh? so if i wanted a better longer Flight time then what would you recommend..I am sort of wanting more Flight time....The 5s 3700mAh flies for about 5 to 6 miniutes....i think..I actually never timed it, but see Jag72 i'm just hovering,, what if i wanted to give it full throttle and actually Fly the damm thing, wouldnt my battery life on this 3700mAh be even shorter compared to hovering? and if that's the case i'm really gonna need a longer flight time battery...
Please advise....

btw jag72,,,PM me your work email and Ph info again cause i'm not @ mercury ins any longer....Those bastards laid 100 people off and i was one of them......I still like to converse during the day and i know u dont check your RR all day..

Flight times

I get a solid 5 1/2 minutes of all out 3d flying with the 5s 3700mah packs...

you should be able to get about 7 minutes of hovering in on a 3700mah pack..

You can run a 5000mah pack but it will be very nose heavy and will suck for any 3d flying...

I spoke with the guy who owned the New Swift that just came out...He said the Heli is built for some Serious 3d..None like he's ever Flown before....I guess those are 2 Heli's i wont be buying no way soon.....To advanced for me......i need like a Trex 600 or a Raptor 90...Something Slow and Smooth....ha ha..

Quick question. With the 5S 3700 pac I have to put it so far foward to get it to balance that I need to make a extention to the battery tray. How are these guys with 4 batteries shoved in the tray getting the E Samrt to balance? Here's the finished product just waiting on balence to test hop it. Mike

E-Smart Balance

I made a plate.

I am running an align 600l 1620kv motor and a 4s 4000ma battery with good results. the battery has to be about 5" forward. I made an aluminum plate, bolted it to the ESC tray, put velcro on the bottom of it, and velcro on the top of the battery. Also use a strap.

AHHH, that's not true...Once i get that 5s in..the head speed is so high that it doesnt matter...it will hover straight no matter how far or how little that battery is in...From my experience with this Esmart,,i have not had an issue with battery as far how har far in or balanced it's suppose to be....i just shove it in...Zip tie it..i get zip ties ( long ones ) from home depo..strap the battery with some type of strap cushion,,Slide in the tray and The Zip tie it...Only down fall is i have to Zip tie it everytime i fly cause i have 2 batteries but it only takes 2 minutes.....I'm gettn a Nitro Heli now.....Im gettn a 60 size for about $500 with everything..Motor, blades, electronics......That's a steal so as it turns out, i'm gonna have 2 helis now...

Good luck on that battery situation,,,dont worry about tooo much..it's not a major...Which battery are u using again?
I like that idea of an extension tray for the battery...good idea....
