IMO Align electronics are first to be replaced especially if you looking durability. Part of the reason I sold all Align birds in favor of Mikado. Spec power plant to match the intended use.

Did you shoot yourself in the foot?

No. The motor had been a solid performer in the Logo 10 (survived a number of crashes) for 2 years. The Kontronik motor has exceeded my expectations. Not like Align ESC and motors from past experiences.

The motor was first used in a Logo 10 then moved to my Logo 600 AP. There’s a huge difference in weight and blade size.

The motor was over strained, and it did provide some prior warning before seizing.

The Askman APLG Tilt and AP2000i combination has served its purpose for testing with Canon G5, A650IS and HC5 payloads. Motor has been replaced with a 45-08, which is still 6S powered (7-8 min. on 17t 600mm) until I can obtain new 8S/10S packs.

In the meantime, a L700 build is underway along with a pan/tilt mount setup and HC 3A. I like to fly anywhere/anytime so the choice to go with Helicommand was made. I'm a hardware guy, so I enjoy the building and fine tuning.

EDIT: Trex 700 looks attractive?

I've decided to switch back to Align after seeing a T700e conversion. The key reason for the switch, Aluminum head and a heli designed for 710's. I had all the parts ready for a Logo 600 3D to L700 conversion, but had to opt-out for the Trex 700. Theres justs more room on the frame to put electronics.

Never-the-less the ball continues to roll.

You could have fitted one of these motors,i have over 100 flights this motor and its a good replacement for the 600E standard motor and you would save some cash, because they are cheaper $45 . More pics in my gallery along with pinion size.

Runs very well cool not like the standard align motor which i cremated 2 off in a short time.

Madien flight of Trex 700 E with Helicommand 3A today. Now I just need to learn the system and fine tune. Setup not too bad once you understand the settings.

Had a lot of time to think about a replacement ESC. Going with Kontronik. I've read that the GOV is better in the Jive 80 HV, but looking at the PowerJazz as I'm going to be carrying a payload. The other plus to the Jive is that it's half the weight. Anyone with experience with either in AP plateforms please add comments.

Thanks,

Sean Harris

New PowerJazz arrived today. Couldn't wait to get it setup and mounted. 700 has been ground for nearly 2-weeks. All looks good with programming and bench tested (partial spool without blades). Looking forward to tomorrows test flight with new Scorpion 4035-500 and ESC. I was in the process of tuning Helicommand with CC HV85 went south.

Noticeable improvement with revised power system. The power is on tap, which the previous setup seemed to lack. Stay focus - no 3D.

Powered up the KS-2 for the first time. If your and ole sci-fi fan, you'll enjoy the sound of the gyros coming up to speed. Discount power and it freewheels.

Yeah - I like technology.

Weight of T700E w/ 12S TP5000: 11 lbs. 10oz.

Finally got the new gear mounted. Now the next phase of setup and tuning.

Total weight: 16 lbs.

Radio Flyer assisted on trip to canyon.

Airfoil Pro M1 / KS2 / HC5

Now its down to getting the flying and ship smooth. The T700 is still 3D (blades/paddles), and the KS2 is a newly added element to the mix (omit the 90 size heli).

Castle Creations ESC's are hit and miss. In my opinion, they are a P.O.S.!

I like 'German' made ESC's .

I agree. I've moved to "German" brands and have no intention of switching back.

Agreed. I literally through 3 CC ESC's in the trash. Didn't want to waste my time or effort selling them. They suck.

Powerjazz on all birds, for now and forever.
