Hey guys, im getting my nice new 90 setup, and plan on using Futaba FASST, with JR 8717's. I want to use them on 8v, but dont know if the Rx can handle it. Of course ill have a step down for the gyro, but can the RX handle 8v? Anyone tried?

FASST RX's are rated up to 6v. (I have not tried to go over that myself)

It seems that radio mfg's would realize that most people are going to Li chemistry batteries now and to make the RX's up to 8v like Spektrum did. It would be nice run without regs.

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter

I figured that too...it seems if futaba wanted to compete with the dx7, then theyd make it possible, but im not wanting to just hook a 8.4v lipo up to my 100 dollar RX...haha Most PCM rxs are also rated up to 6v, but i have used a 2s lipo with them before, with no problems.

I asked him about 8V and this is what he said:

-----
Not too sure. From what I hear they cannot handle the 8v. Maybe you can check with someone from hobbico?

Pay up,,,,LOL

I couldnt tell the difference when I flew 6v then switched to 7v so why go to 8v? Your only going to lessen your total number of flights on that battery.

Basically this means we can run A123 batteries such as Fromeco Ion-Corps without a regulator? Hot off the charger they are 7.5v but operating voltage 6.6v.

Hi

Anybody dare to try to connect the 6014 to directly 2 x Lipo,
with 8717 servoes

I thinking of doing a bench test, and load the servos with some weights.....
