Hey guys

I have all my electronics ready for my Avro (which I will order soon). I am going with:

611/BLS
8915 (cyclic)
9255 throttle
OS90 hyper (non pumped)
Multigov
Fromeco 8V 5200 mah
CY blades

Question, have any of you used the new MP5 or is a hatori a better fit? If so what model Hatori?

Cheers all, will post once complete

Hi Jonty
Both pipes fit ok, the mp5 fits with no mods, but the hatori you will need to cut the fan shroud a bit, but we do have a template for this

The hatori pipe will depend on the engine, os 939 or ys 937

Hi delhezi18,
I just measured the frame plates and the complete thikness of the chassis:

Carbon plate: 2mm or 0.079 inch
Thiness complete frame: 29.80mm or 1.17 inch

Hope this answers your question!

Hi,

yes we make custom canopies molds and paintings ( if you look on Blitz website on the picture slideshow, there is one same we made, but with blue candy " Blitz" logo, for Blitz Helicopters .But i can't advertise on RR . i'll put a picture of teh other one later.

Well regarding the dumbest crash, it's mroe than 10 years that i build and setup helicopters for people and never had any problems.

On the Avro, it was one of the forst batches and i was translating the manual in French, so i did read, build, unbuild and made corrections for the french manual, and well i was preparing Nuremberg toy fair and scale fuselages milling at the same time so i did the Avro build very late during nights.

Then i was totally excited and we took the Avro to go to the field with Dominique Buhn, and could not resist to give it a go..
And flew something like 2 minutes...; We landed witht he main gear and rotor head beeing retained by the torque tube conical gear (lol) and severe vibrations, and the heli once landed felt on the side like a big stone, in a cow sh..t . Yeah... ...

Well after deeeeeeeeep inspection, when i de-built and re-built the heli for the manual writing, i just forgot to put loctite on one full side of the heli and i even did not tightened the screws. As i did that very late, then stopped for one week and went back on the heli, i just did not give a final look ( shame on me ).

All i can say is that the Avro is a VERY robust heli, i only damaged the frames becasue of teh crown gear ripping in the frame, the upper bearing block was just not retained anymore as the screws escaped with the vibrations.

I was already paranoid about safety on gaz helicopters, now i twice more even hehehe..

it's now rebuilt with extra strong loctite and triple checked, and all i can say is that it's one of the best and strongest heli i've flown so far with my 3DNT. ))

BEst regards,

Fabien

I forget to say, it's ok in the air so far, i can see it clearly and anyway i'm not a hard 3D flier so it's just fine for me, but we might test one with this Kawazaki Green and Orange or mandarin candy for the low part of the canopy.

PS: the bottom is not black, it's candy dark red with metal flakes

BEst regards,

Fabien

Hi Fabian,
Indeed a very nice paint job! Could you place some more detailed pictures of your avro? Would love to see what is below that nice canopy

I love green and the visibility is not to match with yellow or orange but its perfectly visible

Anyway the Hard 3D movements is a programmed in the head of the pilot I even think he could fly it with blindfolled jeje.. would be a nice event on this years 3D masters....

Hi Dave,

i will take pictures tomorrow or wednesday, only the tail servo is not on it as i need to change the gears (not received yet).

The configuration is the following:

- OS 91 SZ
- Hatori 3D Muffler
- 3 x 9255 Cyclic servos
- 1 x 9254 Throttle servo
- GY611 / 9256 tail servo
- CSM Revlock governor ( not installed during the engine break-in)
- Scott Gray Reactor X voltage regulator
- 3200 Mah 2S Lipo (thinking in going for 2s2P 4200 Mah)

Main blades are Zigsaw 700mm
Flybar paddles are Sab 3D paddles (carbon)
Tail blades are Sab 95mm (large chord) but will be swtiching to Radix 105 mm for 3D when Dominique Buhn flies it (we use it both, but i fly more gently than him hehehe )

I use a 72 Mhz PCm 10X transmitter and a RD2000 synthetised receiver.

There must be some pictures of when i mounted the Avro on some thread here, electronics was just fitted but not the wiring, i'll try to find the link. The Reactor X was not installed at that moment

BEst regards,

Fabien

[quote]but the hatori you will need to cut the fan shroud a bit, but we do have a template for this

On my Hatori, i got a spacer from Blitz, which they design for the smaller hatori pipe, which moved it out further so it did not touch the fan shroud,

The long Hatori pipe sticks out further so there is no need for the spacer.

Hi,

yes, on the Hatori 3D, it's needed to cut a bit the fan shroud.

Here is a picture of the cut :

Thanks Fabien for info

How are you finding the 3D version ?

Not knowing much about the 3D setup how does it compare the synergy ?

as a couple in my club are devout synergy flyers, and i was telling them about the Avro, but mine is in F3C setup, so although it is capable of 3D, it is not a dedicated 3D setup, using harder shims and rubbers etc.
