What are you guys using to remove the nuts on the spindle.

My tools are all too big and using other method works but are a PITA!

I was thinking of buying 2 Hobicco 3.0mm nut driver like this :

But I'm just not sure the outer diameter will fit in the blade grip...

Any suggestion on what you are using?

I'll check that, I have a local hardware shop that has Wiha tools... it would be even better than ordering online just to find out it does not fit

I make a quick look on my lunch break.

thanks for your help!

Man, just coming from shopping around to find a 5.5mm with a max of 8mm outer diameter... nobody has something like this around

I'll search online but it's not easy as usually, outer diameter are not in the description

My WIHA nutdriver has a small enough outside diameter to fit. Unfortunately I only have one of the correct size and need two.

Cannot find Wiha locally, the only thing I found that COULD match is the Dynamite one...

I've sent my LHS an email asking but they are not known to be very fast on replying

I'll ask in the tool forum of runryder May have better luck!

The shaft are already ordered and on their way... I'm sure i'm going to find the correct tool for this job.

I have a friend that has one, but don't want to drive 1 hr each time I want to borrow it

And it's not a brand I can find... he has it since a long time.

Just found one at helidirect. It's written 7mm OD but I've been told by a heli pilot that it is indeed 7.9mm... which is still good for me. at 3.99$ each, both are on their way.

Lucky you got them.
First time, I also didn't know the thin nut drivers are required, That time, I used long nose flyer to hold one side and 5mm normal nut diver to untighten the other side using friction.
However, I realised that it is quite easily find in Singapore as Esky tools are common in Singapore.

Yeah, I had help from some flyer online. those forum community are great! I nealy always get an answer from an online member wayyyy before I get support from local hobby shops

For an example, I've sent an email to my LHS on monday (after the crash) and I'm still short of an answer... come on... it's an easy question : do you have a 5.5mm nut driver with an OD of max 8mm. You take a look at the inventory, get yourself a caliper and say yes or no...

The only guy around here that is known to carry esky is out of town for 2 weeks...

Well, this spindle nut is a pain in the butty. I think they can improve this design.

700N, EVO 50, Caliber 5, Beam 450, and comming soon TREX 9000 :)

Check out your local Nitro RC Car dealer. Most times their wheel nuts are 5.5mm, and the socket head has to fit inside the lip of the wheel hub, so O.D. is usually quite small.

If you bling it, they will come :D

Brovic777,

The Wiha nut driver you show will work perfectly. That is exactly what I use with the Beam spindle.

IMO, one advantage to the locknut design of the spindle is "No locktite required". No worry of locktite getting in the grip bearings.

hi all;

What I do is I purchase normal 5.5mm nut driver from hard wear shop with thick outer diameter. Thats the best I can get.

I turn on the stone wheel grider to grid away outside diameter. It works fine for me.

Here's a pic of what I have.....The HUDY goes in smoother than the WIHAs as they have a little bigger OD.
