yeah
i flew mine for the first time off the budy lead.

My first impressions were as follows

1 - A really nice stable machine, i found it very easy to hover.

2 - Doesnt get covered in fuel, and is easy to clean and maintain

Negatives

I hate the thin canopy design, it is extremely narrow, which is ok and brilliant for fast forward flight, but it takes a lot of getting used to.

I found this held me back for a few tank until i got used to it.

It seems as if a lot of manufacturers are going the same way - very narrow canopies.

It is ok in the hover, but i found once i got the confidence to get it into a curcuit it became very easy to loose orientation,

i think a lot has to do with how it has been painted, if i had more orange and red and not so much black it would help a lot more, something i will take up later on.

But apart from this 1 niggle thisis a great machine, i also would prefer white undercarridge struts, cos when hovering side on against a dark background it is very easy to loose perception...

Yay - a new forum thanks Mark! Keep up the reports guys I am hanging out to see how she goes. Any noticable power reduction with that drive train?

I love mine!

It has a fantastic locked-in hover, tracks perfectly in fast forward flight, and goes like the clappers when you give it some stick!

It’s also just as happy inverted as it is upright...

It was a pleasure to build, absolutely everything fitted together perfectly and the parts just exude quality.

The Avro also has a number of inspired design features that really make a difference. Things like the clever servo mounting system, the engine/clutch assembly mount that gives minimal run-out whilst requiring no dial-in. A head specifically designed with options to accommodate the extremes of 3D flying or the finesse of F3C. The list goes on...

I'm really pleased it's now got its own forum, Blitz have created an excellent machine that deserves to do very well.

Hi Sean,

When I first built my Avro I opted for a stable F3C setup, although I did use the 3D grip bearing positions.

It's not that I'm an F3C flyer, I'm more of a gentle 3D sport flyer and as such wanted a stable smooth flying setup. This setup was great, the raw power of a 90 but with impeccable manners! The roll and flip rate were very similar to my white paddled Raptor 50SE.

However, once I'd flown the Avro a bit I was persuaded to try a slightly more aggressive 3D setup. So I flipped over the blade grips and opted for the "middle" setup, as described in the setup guide (in both setups I'm using SAB 720s in conjunction with the smaller Stubz paddles - weights about a 1/3 out).

I must say that I do prefer this setup, the Avro is still very stable and well mannered but now has a faster roll and flip rate - there's now a bit more of an edge to the machine...

Hope this helps?

The pitch ranges will vary depending on what set-up you opt for. i.e. mixing ratios etc., see the set-up guide for further details - downloadable from the Blitz web site.

Basically speaking, the more stable your set-up the less available pitch. I believe that the F3C set-up has 10.5 degrees of collective. In the most aggressive 3D set-up you'll have the most pitch.

In my medium 3D set-up I've got +/- 12 degrees of collective, not too sure about the cyclic (probably 6 or 7 degrees, I'd have to check).

Drop an e-mail to Blitz, they will be able to confirm the exact ranges.

Hope this helps?
