Any good ideas for securing the front of the canopy? I think the idea was to apply the foam to the canopy, but others have applied the foam to the frame. No matter where I place the foam strip, the canopy still has considerable up and down play in the front. What have others done to make it more secure in the front?

BTW, I'm referring to the stock canopy the E4 comes with.

Thanks!

The foam goes underneath the botton blate in front of the front landing gear strut. I trim it down to width and about 1/2 inch long. This eliminates all the canopy play.

I did the same thing, put a smaller part of the tape under the front plate and canopy is pretty tight on it... did you drilled the canopy hole tight enough?

The foam strip is in place, still some slop. Maybe I need to try two layers.

I'm not sure what you mean by drilled the canopy hole. I didn't have to drill any holes in the canopy. Maybe I'm missing something altogether.

Thanks!

I took a servo arm and installed in under the front lower frame cross member screw on each side of the frame. See pictures, they tell it all.

This holds the canopy tight without any foam tape.

Very nice and simple idea! I like it.

Tell us if it makes the canopy crack after 20 flight though

That is a very good idea!! I certainly have plenty of extra servo arms laying around. It also appears to lift the nose of the canopy up where I would like it.

Thanks very much!

Cool, nice to know there as been no problem.

This solution seem very adaptative to different canopy you could use. I use a different canopy depending on the lightning condition and 1 is an Align, the other is the original Beam one.

Stock mounting hole on the new canopies will make the nose of the canopy droop and bob up and down. Putting a new grommet hole 10cm to the front and 10cm up will tighten the bottom of the canopy to rest against the front strut and make it tight. At the same time the whole canopy will be tilted up a little to look better.

Any pictures of the "before" and after redz?

Since you talk about "Stock mounting hole", it means you end up with 4 holes in it... right?

The pictuure show after/before of the new mounting hole. The new holes take care of the bobbing canopy and corrects for better posture.
Translucent burgendy was the stock plastic canopy and the painted one is a new one just received. I do not know if all new canopies will come this way.

That painted canopy looked much better when it came in the mail. After losing the one-way bearing on first fligth (after repair) and losing a grip ball on the second, it looks like that.

The painted one seems to have better canopy positioning than the translucent one as the nose on that one seems lifted a tad too much.

The canopy came with the Beam kit we received from Korea. I'll ask Beam if the painted canopy will be available as an option the next time I contact them. If it will be an option or stock, I'm sure Advantage will get them in.

The only problem I see with the painted one is that the adhesion is not as good as FG painted canopies and will peel off on minor impact.
