I am planning on getting one of these little guys. Can anyone tell me the main motor shaft diameter? I think there might be a brushless that will fit this little guy, It's for a tiny RC car. And also does anyone know the head speed these guys fly at normally?

If I say duck, I'm not talking about a bird that quacks!

I sorted through the pro's and con's of this unit and I feel the pro's are better.

Isn't that always the case ?

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

There are several people working on a brushless motor setup for the 4#3. If you have not arleady take some time to read the thread at

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=726698

You will find over 300pages of useful information, including head speed, brushless motor mods, and all sorts of others.

I would urge you to contact small.planes on the RCgroups form and order yourself a alloy metal head asap. you will never regret it. Sorry I cant answer your specific questions but check out the forum above and you will have all your answers!

My mods

I broke my rotor head right off the bat so I got the metal head from small.planes it's great! I also broke the flybar several times and the tail rotor shaft so I replaced the flybar and tail rotor shaft with music wire. Indestructable! (I hope) That's all I have broken so far and those pieces will never break again. Also the heatsinks for the Blade CP tail motor (available at your local hobby store) fit perfectly on the main motor I got two on mine, one pointing each way. I also moved the reciever as far foward away from the motor as I could get it and still put the canopy on to help cool the main motor.

No problem!

No problem pro!

I just sold my 4#3 because I just bought the millennium rc bipeplane.

http://www.millenniumrc.com/MicroSSXBiplane.html

But I plan on getting another one as soon as I have more funds to do so, I am kind of sad, my last flight before i mailed her off was probably the best flight I have ever had with it. I am sure I will enjoy the new plane though just as much.

I got my 4#3 the other day and I must say I am impressed. It flew right out of the box, all that was needed was a little trimming on the transmitter. I took a look at the alignment of the flybar, blades and so on. The flybar paddles are off quite a bit and it still flew pretty good. I cant wait to see how it flies after I get it all tuned up. I did notice the main motor did get very hot after a few minutes of flight. I need to get a heat sink. All in all, I think this little heli was a great buy. I also have a Micron and it flies no better (maybe not as good after I get the 4#3 tuned) and the Micron cost 3 times as much. I would recommend the 4#3 over the Micron any day. Although I am interested to see how the electronics hold up over time on the 4#3 as in my experience with other walkera heli's, the electronics are crap.

My experience with the 4#3 was all positive even the electronics. I think they really made a good heli this time! Walkera is starting to turn their opperation around and I think we will start seeing more quality products come from Walkera in the short future. They already have plans to release the 4#3 CP version which will have all metal upgrades as well as well as brushless motor and 2.4ghz. I guess we just have to wait and see what happens!

Spin, go to the rcgroup forum and look him up. They are about $20 shipped. You will need to PM him. He replied to me right away.

Just got a new 4#3. The newest version has the new battery tray for correct CG, Pin poking out of main gear so its easier to remove, wider paddles as well, cooling holes in the main motor.

This is the best heat sink I could find for this heli. They fit very snug and you can fit 2 for sure maybe 3. I got 2 and they fit fine and do a great job at cooling the motor. I got mine in 6 days from the day I ordered. I highly recommend.

Got one of these the other day, this is a great in-door heli, lots of fun! But.....I do have a problem. I'm getting throttle and servo jerking. The throttle cuts out about every 2 seconds and the red light on the receiver goes out during the throttle cut out. It's like the receiver is loosing power, I have two batteries and their good, what should I check next?

thanks

Park sorry to say but it is definently the receiver or transmitter!

I had this problem on the one i got, I bought mode 1 (I fly mode 2), i knew it could be swapped so when i got home and the box was there the first thing i did was swap the mode over. Silly to do as the warranty on the transmitter is void, I had no choice but to get a second one and after testing I found both the receiver and transmitter on the first heli to be faulty.
As soon as you move more than 1M away it twitches and has a mind of its own, the transmitter won't lock on to the receiver unless you hold it.

But now i've got a whole heli (minus receiver and transmitter) spare and extra battery and charger. I did keep the battery holder/antenna and cover from the faulty transmitter.
Its better to get a new one as it the cheapest way

Not good, I think I will do a close inspection. If I can't find anything maybe start with replacing the receiver. What was wrong with your transmitter?

thanks

I had this problem as well.. here is how I fixed it.. As you can see the slice of balsa stuck in the slot between the crystal holder and some other component.
