What I did was the same thing I did with my cx. I order the 4 in 1 2.4GHz RX/ESC/Gyro unit from the cx 2. It works great with my DX7, so I thought I would try it on the Skylift. It seem to work fine, but I was worried that the 4 in 1 unit would not be able to handle the 11.1 volts. The cx's use the 7.4 volt, so I thought that 11.1 would fry the 4 in 1 unit. That is why I switched back until I could find out a little more info. I contacted Horizon, and ask if the 4 in 1 would handle the 11.1 volt lipo? Their reply to me was yes it would handle the 11.1 volts ok, but they thought the motors would not. I know my motors get pretty hot, but as long as the 4 in 1 unit can be used without frying it I think I may change back to 2.4GHz.

People do not use the 4 in 1 unit. Horizon was wrong, the unit cannot handle the 11.1 volts. I was flying the skylift around, and everything was working great then down it came. I could smell the unit had fried, when I picked up the heli. So it's back to the drawing board.

I find it puzzling that yours doesn't work, because I have done this exact modification and mine works a treat. I bought a Spektrum 6100e and just swapped it for the original Twister receiver. I fly it on the CX2 (eflite LP5DSM) transmitter and have had no problems. I did not touch the original 3 in 1 unit. It should be possible with yours too.

Well, after the 4 in 1 situation I picked up a 3 in 1, which is listed for the BCPP. That uses the 11.1V lipo, and I plugged it into the 6100, which was working great for about 3 minutes then I fried the 3 in 1. The lower blades were spinning, but the upper blades were not. I removed the motors that run the upper blades and they were shot. I tried to spin the shaft by hand and they were grinding and locked up. Now I am thinking that the motors were bad causing the 4 in 1 and the 3 in 1 units to fry. Yes, there is no reason that either method that I have tried should not have worked. I am going to install new motors and try a 7.4V lipo to hopefully save on the motors and everything else.

Well guys,
Horizon sent me a new 4 in 1 unit, they have been really good to replace parts and my hats off to them. I installed it on the Skylift along with 4 new motors and a 7.4V EVO25 1500mah lipo. I flew for 5 minutes a couple of times and checked for heat. The lipo wasn't even warm and the motors were some what warm. Then I pushed the next flight to 7 minutes and the lipo was just starting to get warm, but hardly noticeable. The motors were getting pretty warm, but nothing like they were with the 11.1V lipo. So as of now everything is working great converting to the 2.4GHz system.
