Hey neat.
A Heli with a prop on the front of it.
And a "wing" hanging off the right side of it.

Oh, and talk of TWIN TURBINE THRUSTERS?

This ALMOST could be classified as an autogyro, eh?

Fun toy, interesting concept, but it won't ever come close to competing with tiltrotors. It's still limited by the same rotorwing physics that limit the speed of conventional helicopters and gyrocopters, RC or full-size -- the asymmetrical lift and the inherent drag of the mainrotor at speeds high enough to be useful.

I tried something like that a long time ago. I thought it would make the heli fly faster. It was a bit faster, but actually, it was only good for making noise and turning left.

The crazy thing had a Rossi 65 turning NHP 550's. It could pull 14 deg of pitch and the motor would still over-rev. The ducted fan was really loud. I remember getting in trouble for test running it inside a Motel 6 room, while trying to prep it for a fun fly (it was raining outside).

And no, they don't "leave the light on" for me anymore.

Is there a way to watch the video without quicktime? Or perhaps somebody could convert one of the videos?

That's hardly if even faster than the world speed record heli with no assist at all.

Can't remember but it's right around 75 MPH.

How about sticking a model rocket motor on the A$$ end and firing it up in a dive

I'll bet 75 would be easy

My stock R50 will do 76 mph measured w/GPS. The RC record is well above 90 mph and possibly over 100.

No it's not the Guy who owned it and just recently lost it by like 2MPH is a regular contributor on this forum. Ken Jennings (Ken J)former Drag race champ as well.

It's in the mid to upper 70s.

I would have thought it would be faster myself but that's what it is.

He did it with a XeroG ERaptor.

If your getting up there then go to IRCHA and try for it yourself.

They use radar to measure I believe.

50 Class Nitro 9S Li-Po Prop 14x9
Top Speed: 76 MPH
Weight: 11.5 lbs

Can't seen the point when a stock Rappy will do this anyway. However, prop could add an interesting dynamic to tictocs although it would be horrible for piro manouvers. Each to his/her/its own.
Ken Jennings holds the current record at somewhere around 75MPH or is it 1075MPH

I haven't time to search right now, but I can assure you that the top RC pure heli speed is higher than 90 mph during flat level flight. If my stock R50 can do 76 mph, measured with a GPS unit (6 extra ounces of weight) and witnessed by many, the record could not possibly be in only the mid 70's.
