Sick, Sick, Sick!
Will you have a vid of the "first pull?"
One of two things are going to happen.
It starts and all is well.
It starts and the when you hit the gas the thing explodes and we get to enjoy the bits flying. I hope it flys.

Shes gonna fly, I know it.

She will fly. What tells me this is that even with the extensive mods, she is still not far off of the basic original design. I have found out that although some helis look complex they all follow the same rudimentary designs and behave much the same way as any other. The designs themselves aren't that difficult to understand. It's the interaction of the controls, ratios, lengths and angles that gets confusing sometimes. I am NOT messing with the rotor head at all, I'm just giving her a bigger heart thats all, and that kind of work is something I can do all day with my eyes closed. To me rearranging the motor and the lower drive line isn't that big a deal as long as I can get the headspeed right and maintain the overall balance of the machine. Once thats right, simple physics says she will fly.

I'm just wondering, but how are you going to mount the fuel tank to the front?

Ever seen a MinAir Fury Extreme?

They hold the gas tank on under the radio tray with nothing more than a velcro strap. I am comtemplating the same setup but with some plastic side stays.

That's what I was going to mention. My Fury had straps, but they went through the frame with screws securing them to the tank bracket.

Had some minor problems...

But I'm working them out. I forget sometimes that since I'm basically building half the machine from scratch that when you change one thing invaribly you will have to change another. I was having some problems with carb orientation and spacer length but I think I have it figured out.

1st pull...

Well she had her 1st official pull today! Had some carb problems right off the get go and a throttle servo that was acting up,so no flight time, just run time. She tends to bog a little off idle so like I said there are some tuning issues yet to be sorted out. I will say this much I don't know about other gassers out there but speaking for just mine the torque this engine makes is way above that of a nitro engine. Ive held back my 50 and my 91sr and the apparent power coming off this one tells me it's going to be nothing but 's once she's tuned in.
