Why do I constantly hear: 'If you can fly that (Blade CP Pro), you can fly anything'?

Cause it is squirrely. The head block is looser than a call girl on Sunday. The tail holds until you get a strong gust or you add throttle/pitch. You are constantly giving it inputs just to keep it in a hover in a four foot square. Take you thumbs off the sticks for a second and it's taking off in one direction or the other. Try flying the Blade CP without the bell-hiller, it is even more squirrelly.

Once you fly a 50 sized machine or a Trex 450 even, you will know why.

That's pretty much it! Once you fly a larger bird with
good tail authority it's hard to go back! But with my
trex down waiting on a servo I'll be flying the Blade
all weekend and that's just fine with me! Set up right
there lots of fun to buzz around with...Keeps ya sharp

Blade CP Pro is a disaster. I started with it as my first heli in January which was a mistake and have moved on to a bigger heli since, a real heli thats actually very enjoyable and relaxing to fly. You know the saying you get what you pay for, and the blade gave me no more or no less than what I paid for!

Your CX2 charger is 7.4volt, Your CP+ pack is 11.1volt! Do
yourself a favor and get a decent lipo balance charger! The
chargers that come with all the CP's and CX's are crap! They
don't truly balance charge and will shorten the pack life...

By not sending a charger they did you a favor

The cx2 hitting my legs caused less pain than buying blades,Now with the modifications, to cx2 and cp+ design they dont have to hit my legs, of course i had to hit with the cp+ just once almost cut my legs off.

3 cell battery

the 3 cell battery came precharged and i got it today so 5 minutes about to top it up will see when its low.

Eflite upgraded to what i had done to my cx2 almost everything, including the receiver and pot adjuster with a tie instead of a sticky tape.

You will thank yourself for getting another charger!!! I can charge my cx2 batt around 20 minutes faster with my triton jr than with the eflight charger. I can also monitor the mah that I put back into the battery. I only use the eflight charger if I am charging my packs for my rex... and want to put a quick charge on the cx2

luger: The Blade CP+ is supposed to come with a lipo charger - see the Horizon Hobby website here: [http://www.horizonhobby.com/Product...ProdID=EFLH1105].

It is not the best charger, but it will certainly get you started safely. Just follow the safety instructions.

To get back to the the original topic - if you can fly the Blade CP you can fly anything...

Take your time to learn to fly the Blade CP (at least learn how to hover). If you follow Radd's Flight Training [http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html] without cheating, you can learn without breaking anything!

My advice is to learn - you already have the model, and access to replacement parts is at every LHS. Then move on to a more capable heli.

If you check My Gallery, you will find some really helpful links to get you started - both flying and (mostly) repairing in the section titled "Favourite Links - Info".

Welcome to addiction (oops, hobby)!

You are an asset to all of us beginners. Thank You! I can fly both of my cp pros which is why I asked the question. Just about everyone I've come in contact with who has some time invested in this hobby says the same thing. That this class of heli is the most difficult one to fly. I'm enjoying mine so I don't get the logic. Maybe when I break out the tricked out Trex that I bought from the owner of the LHS who thought he could fly it and then quickly learned the truth. Maybe then I'll realize how difficult these cps were to fly. But right now, the cp pro gives me my daily fix (morning and afternoon some days).

not so easy

I heard the same thing when I started and now have to agree and disagree. Although my larger machines are more "stable", I cant "let go" like I do with the Blade. I have been having a hard time pushing myself to do more with the gasser and rex, but with the Pro I will try anything. Down side is I usually fly the Pro until I break it, but its a cheap fix

The secret is to buy the best helicopter you can afford to destroy.

CP+

I never looked in the box, but the Cp+ dwarfs the cx2
I have to park it in my garage, it takes up all my flying space inside.

I think I wreck my blade on a weekly basis. I fly the heck out of it and don't give it a second thought if I bury it. Why?? It's so cheap to fix.
For the new guys...if you don't push it you won't learn. Spare part and repair ASAP and don't be afraid...it's only plastic!!!

My CP Blade hovers just about hands off. A bit of tail input but other than that I can lift it off and keep it there. I agree it is not a great heli to fly outdoors in the breeze.

Secret? Not really...just a lot of tweeking. Keep your cyclic trims set at nuetral and get the servo arms as level as possible then trim mechanically until you have a level flying ship. The other thing is to make sure you have the main blades tracking as best as you can and I run the a bit more negative so that I get a higher head speed in Idleup mode. How long does it take? Oh...a couple of battery packs and a few hours of putzing.
In between watching the Raiders win and ol' #8 have a hard year you can get it done.

luger:

I still think there was something missing from your purchase. From the link:
Quote

- PLUS, at no extra cost, you get:
- An optional-use Training Gear Set for added stability and to prevent blade strikes
- Optional-use wooden symmetrical main blades for inverted flying and aerobatics
- 3S 11.1V 800mAh Li-Po battery pack
- DC Li-Po balancing charger
Perhaps someone else who has purchased the BCP+ can comment...

Regarding flight, I agree with Gino and whodaguy.

1. Buy the most expensive heli you can afford to crash
  • if you are unsure about whether you want to invest in this hobby, or are on a limited budget, the BCPP is cheapest when combining all terms of:
    • cost of parts (yes HBK2 is cheaper, but see next point)
    • fast availability of parts (LHS)
    • time required to repair
    • minimal damage on crash (lower headspeed and design minimizes damage)
2. Setup is key
  • make sure everything is straight
  • make sure everything is balanced
  • follow Radd's to learn how to hover
  • enjoy the flying
