Dino's accident

So what happen to him can anyone that saw it tell what happen? It would be good to know so maybe it want be repeated by others. Was something wrong with his helicoopter or did he do something himself that cause the accident. Glad to hear he will be OK

epoweredrc,

I could not agree more!!! I wish I had 2000.00 heli's when I was 5!!! The only heli I had when I was a kid was the Pull string FF thing that was 10 bucks from the Flea Market, and THAT was EXPENSIVE!!

Oh well.. I guess times have changed. I guess for the better?

It's Dad's sharing their interest with their children. If you are financially capable of doing this I don't see the issue. My son and I have ATV's, if he showed an interest in helis I would get him one of those. Its great bonding time.

Glad they're ok.

Mark,

Excellent video of Daniel, outstanding quality of the videos. Please lay off the zoom a bit though.

Thanks for taking the time to video and take pictures.

Jeff

Mike Velez incident

This happened during Hennry Caldwell's demo flight about a minute into his flight he was doing some pretty low piroetting ticktocs and I am not real sure what happened next but it looked to me like one of his blades hit the ground I am sure someone who was standing closercould confirm this but it was hard to tell because the ground in that particular area dips up then down. In any event right after what looked to me to either be a main blade touch or tail blade the heli went knife edge right towards a group of spectators (most of them sitting down) Mike was closest to the flight line and was sitting indian style, the next closest person was about 5 feet from him. The wind was a good 20mph blowing directly into the flight line so it didn't help any, I was standing right inline with Mike Valez about 20 feet behind him. Henry did a good job of hitting the hold switch before it actually reached Mike. And Mike saved himself by ducking down at the last second otherwise it would have hit him right in the head and chest, but instead the heli hit him in the back and then continued on behind him about 10 feet where it stopped on its side nose facing the flight line still running. He had either a small laceration or punture wound on his left leg that did require medical treatment but he was not taken to the hospital. I will say this, being 20 or so feet away I was scared, and I can't imagine what was going thur his head when he saw that disk heading right at him. I'm not sure if he was looking through his view finder when it happened but I am sure he can answer that. After that incident they moved the flight station 20 feet further out and moved everyone back another 10 or so feet. Other then that there is really not much more I can elaborate on, other then I having a great time here at this record breaking event. I got to see Curtis in person for the first time and talked to him about his flybarless setup and the ATG. I got my crown gear problem solved thanks to Tim from MA, both main shaft collars were cracked and even though they were tight they would flex during 3D causing the gear mesh to change. Lots of great up and coming pilots (and helicopters) and the weather is hot.

Take care

Kyle

The fact that the flight station was moved AFTER the accident, is proof everyone knows this type of close in flying is dangerous, and pushing the limits. But, in the interest of being cool, we do it anyways. To hell with the risks, right??

Someone NEEDS to be killed. Preferrably in front of a Dateline NBC camera, then this will stop, and event, ans flying field regulations will finally be inforced to protect everyone , including the stupid pilot, who is too stupid to realize he is flying a lawn mower in front of his face.

I hope someone got it on tape, and forwards it to the media.

But, a little girl or boy, preferably one that is flying a 90 at say 9years old, needs to be decapitated. THat would do it.

So, encourage it, call it cool, and wait. Then, when the dust settles, blood and body parts, we will be regulated and safe.

Until then, hide behind the freq board.

The Heli Media, and Sponsors need to address this, ands stop this type of flying, it serves no purpose, other than to prove who is more "locked in". Bragging rights for the flyers do not trump the fact that a flying lawn mower, almost out of control, with no blade guard , is being vectored towards themselves and others.

It's not right, and everyone knows it. You KNOW it, but are not willing to admit it that it is a problem....because it is COOL. Remember it is cool when death happens.

Good idea bosshoss why don't you go take one for the team? Just make sure to take your kids and a Fox News crew...

Try not to make it to clean a cut, the public likes blood and screaming.

Thanks.

Hey Boss, i get the feeling you like to fly high up there. And in your case flying low is not an option do to lack of skill. Everyone knows this is dangerous and in most cases saftey measures are taken. Its jealious people like you who take the fun out of everything. Hey everybody, lets all go fishing and use plastic hooks. Dont want to get huryt doing that dangerous casting all those crazy fools do. If you dont like these type of events then dont go. Its C#*k blockers like you that if you had your way ,Indy drivers would have to obey a 45mph speed limit.

Hammer that pig!
