Binding problem with AR7000

Hi Guy's!

I've been trying to bind the receiver (Ar7000) to my radio and I am having trouble doing so.

Here are the issues I'm having with it!
1. I couldn't get the reciever to go into the binding process as per the directions maybe because I have a duralite switch w/regulator built in it, So I pluged in the binding plug into the battery port of the reciever, that worked to bind the system.
2. After in was bound I removed the binding plug are all worked fine did this twice as per the directions for a true failsafe throttle position even the fail safe worked, but once I turn the system off and go to turn it back on it does not work at all I end up having to rebind it every time in order to get to work again.

I have read that there is a 3 wire binding plug for this reciever is this my problem this was an extra rx I purchased with the DX9/AR9000 I haven't done the AR9000 yet as I want to finish with one bird first.

Saul,
As long as you put the bind plug in the battery port you can apply power in any of the other ports. Try this:

Install the binding plug
Power up the Rx - Ensure that both the Master and Slave Rx lights blink
Depress Tx bind button and power up Tx
Wait until both Rx's lights remain lit - the binding process can take several seconds
Release Tx bind button
Remove Rx bind plug
Power down Rx and Tx

This has worked for me everytime. Hope it helps.

Does it go into binding mode (fast flash on the RX)? Or does it just not reconnect when you turn it on?

If it goes into binding mode I would disconnect the duralite switch / regulator and see if that makes a difference.

Does the duralite switch harness have a signal wire on the plug that goes into the RX? If so, disconnect it. I had a BEC that had a signal wire that would cause me to loose the bind every time I shut it off. Turn it back on and it would be in the binding process mode. I disconnected the signal wire and have not had any issues since.

I've been trying to track down what exactly is happenning to me with these rx's sometimes the system will work and most of the time it doesn't, I've come to find that when the system works the light on the module will go solid after a couple of seconds of the transmitter being turned on, and when it doesn't work the light on the module will flash intermitted. Any Ideas on what could be causeing this? I just found out from someone local that he was having the same problem and sent in the units to horrizon and they found nothing wrong with the module or rx. I have a XP9303 which worked perfectly last weekend when I went to the field.

Just curious, what are you using to power the receiver?

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I carried out the binding process with a spare NiMh battery because my Duralite system was giving me problems. All three of my Spektrum recievers are working great.

Duralites 4800

The receivers bind just fine, it's after I turn off the system I have trouble. it just does not connect when I turn it back on and when it does connect it takes 10 or 15 try's of turning on and off to get it to work once! I believe the problem lies with in the module or connection to transmit.

how are the modules fitting onyour radios? My 72mhz module was fairly tight and this one doesn't fit that way, kind of lose, it won't fall out but there is play.

Hi Guy's

I spoke to Horizon today about the problem I'm having with this module and they asked me to send it back to them for a replacement, it seems that it is failing when the transmitter is turned on. Boy I was beginning to get the blues over this thing, I have heard so many good things about 2.4Ghz, I guess there is always one or two that aren't up to par. I hope that I don't have any more issues with this system once I get the new one.

Update!

I just recieved my new module from Horizon Hobby yesterday and I installed it in my radio last night, WOW! what a difference, it bounded to the AR7000 rx with no problems what so ever, even the new module fits into the radio the way the 72mhz one did, now all I have to do is install the AR9000 into my other bird and I'm good to go. It did take a few weeks to get it striaght but overall it has been resolved and thats what counts I would have really been disappointed had something gone wrong while I was up in the air.

I am also having trouble getting my new AR7000 to bind two, my problem is that when I come to power up he led lights but does not keep flashing, its not the battery as its the same one I used to bind my first AR7000, I am how ever using a different switch, could this be causing the problem?

Tried it with another switch and same happened again

Snake Rimmer,
If you are plugging the bind plug into the charge jack on the switch it will not work unless it is a DSC switch harness. It has to have all three wires to make the bind plug work. Just plug the power harness into any empty channel on the RX and plug the bind plug into the battery\bind port and bind the system. This should take care of your problem. Two wire switch harness will not work with the bind plug. Good luck!!!!

Life is like a box of chochlates!

Thanks for the help.

How about this for funny, I bought the 2.4 gig plug in for my 9303.

When I went to bind, the bind plug is male and the only female end on the charge jack is for the battery.....If it was not for you guys I was going to go slightly insane.....
