I am assembling the woodwork according to the manual, but in fiiting the mechanics onto the woodwork, I noticed the cooling fan that is on the bottom of the motor will hit the airbox on the woodwork. Is the airbox something that is not necessary or what is the fix to this situation? Also, with the fan installed, I wonder if the servo mounting on the side will be o.k. I appreciate any advice...

Thanks

Fan Hitting....

The fan will run close to the "airbox" and the ring, and it should, for more efficient cooling, but the box is required.... it is just below the head of the engine and helps to draw the air around the fins for cooling...
Take your time and take another look... I have built 3 Benzin fuselages so far and each had this and each was close, but do fit and are installed... Take your time, it will be worth it when you are finished.... fit each piece 3-4 times (more if needed!!) prior to gluing anything!!!!

Good Luck, Stan

Try to center the retract servo mount with the fan.

In theory the mount should straddle the fan.

My instructions did not show the back of the air box up front being installed. I did have to clearance the the air box for the engine to fit over it. Mostly just beveling the edges.

Greetings,

On page 4 of the directions you will see a push rod shown (70/155). I used this for the throttle linkage and then used a shorter push rod for the retract servo. I also used the largest wheel that came with the retract servo.

Hope this helps.

I have my retract servo rotating the other way to make sure it does not foul the mechanics.

Yeah, that worried me on mine when it was set up. It works well and hits nothing. It is a very good point to mention. Thanks.

Since you have yours flying I was thinking you were OK.

Mine hit the choke shaft at first.

Later, I removed the choke since you couldn't get to the lever anyway.
