...on a head speed note

I was first flying with 11T pinion with 6S and a tango 45-10 rated at 1050Kv (someone said 920Kv?...thats the 45-09)...this was more headspeed than the recommended 2000rpm on the manual...I now use a 9T.

I did have a blade explode once but it was definitely my fault for not letting epoxy cure overnight....just glad no one was hurt.

Those new mikado frames look sweet...just like a T-rex head.

Best of luck!

If that's the case everyone including Kontronik themselves have it wrong. Kontroniks site, Readyheli, and FXAeromodels all say it's 920KV and I can find no mention of a 45-09 anywhere including Kontroniks site.

Mike,

There seems to be a problem between the Kontronik sites. The main kontroniks.com in the English flag says the 45-10 is 1050 kv and the 45-09 is 920kv.

See; http://www.kontronik.com/index2e.htm

The Espirit.com site lists it at 1070 kv and readyheli lists it at 920kv.

All a bit confusing, isn't it! I do believe that the 45-10 is a 1050kv motor.

Cheers,

Tom C

what do they know? lol.

no big deal...just an observation...and something to "change" in the formulas...not the best photo...but you can barely tell that on the label it actually reads 1070...but not the issue here.

There most definitely is a discrepancy between sites. I saw that Tower listed it as 1050KV as well as a few others but most, including the kontronikusa.com site, lists it as 920 and there is no mention of a 45-09. Is the 45-09 even available? Maybe just not exported the the US. The spec sheet with my motor says the peak current is 70A but the link that Tom posted says:

* 1050U/min/V
* 6-24 Zellen, max. 30000U/Min
* 15-50A Dauerstrom
* 75A kurzzeitig
* 285gr
* IL12V 1,1A
* 0,0198 Ohm

Oh well I guess I'll assume 1050KV and 70A max to be safe. At any rate I know my Swift runs around 1900RPM HS with the motor/pinion/battery combo I have.

Well Steve, I hope you rebuild your Swift and fortify it so you can run that high head speed. I would LOVE to see vids of that monster! Good Luck....Ron

Hey man sorry to see about your swift! you can get a pair of CNC grips for under 50 bucks i think, or you can get the whole CNC head for under 150. great deal, theyre super slop free, and fly better than most ive messed with. i must ask, judging on yoru pics (a little fuzzy) why do you have TWO esc's?

not two ESC's, that looks like a tail servo. It appears he used the 4th servo slot to mount the tail servo. I assume the tail case was also mounted upside down to accomodate?

Yes please, take another pic!

The one on top is definitely an ESC, the one on the side is definitely a servo. The white wire protruding from the back of the servo is the signal wire, the reflection makes it look all white like an ESC motor wire. You can even see the screws on the side. It's the Futaba 9251 or 9256 that comes with the GY601 or GY611 gyros respectively. (the gyro in the pic looks like a 601?) Either way, the servo is one of the ultra fast digitals with the black aluminum case and machined heatsink fins.

I believe the caps you're seeing are an optical illusion on the bottom of the servo, the top of the "cap" is actually the edge of the rear strut.

OUCH,,

Something to be said for the metal blade grips and rotor head if you can afford it.

I also wanted to use the 600l motor. I was told flat out the 600l is to high a kv and even with 8t pinion (hard to find and keep in 1 piece) it would be too fast ,even dialed down.

This was straight from fred , the guy who helped design the swift.

I run mine on a hv setup , 9s emoli's and 10s 123's , neu 1910/1.5y (680kv) spins up at 2000-2100 ish on plastic grips (older ones drilled out to 4mm bolts) and even after crashing it with the heavy 530 glass blades on it , they didn't break.

HS was your problem , you need a different motor sorry to say.

I know the align stuff is hard to pass up due to cost (i have 3 align machines) but the swift needs a differnt motor.

If you looking for some good power on 6s then i'd look into the neu 1910/1y or if your looking to save a few $$'s then the 600+ by century
