That design is excellent - looks like the best ideas from a number of very well-proven heli designs (Robbe and MA being the main ones) have been carefully re-thought and added into a very sensible and strong looking heli.

Best of luck to Blitz - the Avro really does deserve to do well.

It looks like a very good design. Well build. I wonder how are the flight characteristics.

And if they are going to sell it in USA.

Good luck with the new heli.

Does anybody know when is going to be available for sale?

Hi Chaos34

I saw the demo on Saturday. It flew beautifully smooth FAI, and then really aggressive 3D. When was the crash, on Sunday?

Had a good look at the Avro, and it is clear that a lot of thought has gone into the design & the machining of the metal parts is excellent. At least as good as Quick UK parts.
One really neat feature is the head block which has removable bushes that form the supports for the spindle. They are supplying different versions, for 3D they have a round hole, while for FAI they have an oval slot allowing vertical flapping but limits lead/lag.

Anyone take any photos of the cut away version?

Tim.

I was told the Crash was from Pilot Peer pressure. (Clipped the tail on the ground) I spoke to someone who saw the heli after the crash and apparently the Heli held up extremely well with minimal damage other than the very basics expected.

Heli and very well thought out in all aspects i.e no DTI on the engine required and several options can be done on the head over and above flybar ratio/delta. Yet everything is still kept simple for average Joe public like myself.

I am so impressed I have placed an order.

I also watched the demo and crash of this machine at the masters, then went to the tent where Dave brought out the crashed machine for people to look at the damage (or lack of damage).
It held up extremely well with very little damage and with what I was told about the parts pricing it would be a very low cost repair.
What I saw in the tent was a fantastic looking machine which was well thought out designed and built, with frame supports being placed in all the places that would typically break in a crash (so the frame looks as though it would be extremely hard to damage in a crash).
The head design looks like a work of art where it has been thought out carefully and can be easily changed to suit F3C or 3D by moving bearing arrangements and spacers (to increase or decrease dampening) and a good amount of adjustability in Delta and fly-bar ratio's.
They even had one built up with clear plastic frames so to make it easy to see the inner working s and support for the entire machine showing how well supported it really is.
There were only 2 downsides I saw,
1. was an initial price of £900 which may make it a hard sell when initially compared to the price of the avant myth and the synergy which are £800 and £700 respectively but the AVRO although initially is higher priced it will probably only take a crash or 2 before the low cost repairs more than make up the difference in the initial purchase.
2. was only a personal preference in that I don't like carbon frames at all and much prefer G10 or alloy.
When I mentioned this to Dave I was told if enough people wanted frames of other material such as G10 they would more than likely supply to demand, he also mentioned the use of G10 had been mentioned he would simulate a stress test of G10 with a CAD program and have a frame set built and test how the model flew using G10 frames for a direct comparison. (How good is that for and early indication of supporting what the people want and wanting to bring out a machine for the average Joe pilot)
To me personally this machine WILL be the next 90 I buy and it will be as soon as I have the funds to do so (but it will not be before the raffle draw just in case I win it )

"easily changed to suit F3C or 3D"

Worth the £100 pounds to me.

The Avro offers the best of both, high quality, well engineered machine, dedicated for either 3D and F3C at average Joe public prices.

After owning a Avant I was very interested in an Aurora for Sportsman's/F3C this year. However no matter how hard I tried, I just could not get the Avant/Aurora head to sit in a hover.(too rigid) I eventually bought two Airskipper 90's with a proven head so at least I could compete this season.

John M:

I agree with you entirely that the easy change from F3C to 3D is worth the £100 just as well as some of the other features it has, but I would guess that when 90% of people are looking for a new 90 sized machine (perhaps moving from 50 size) the initial price tag may put them off before they even read the details.
What I saw was a machine with an excellent design, low repair costs and the ability to be made to fly in many configurations with very little effort.

All of this seems to have been done quickly and quietly without all the hype and big names pilots associated with the launch of other machines.

After seeing it closely I have no doubt the Avro is a great machine with huge potential and every bit as high quality as the other high end heli's on the market without the hype they have had.
The icing on the cake for me when I buy one (not if but WHEN) will be a kick ass well written manual which is what some other manufactures seem to forget about.

I've seen the Avro too and I really like the design. After the crash it took me a while to find the crashed one at the tent since it almost had zero damage. And this was on something I would call a hard crash!

Hi Johnb

Great picture of the cutaway, thanks.

Shows commitment from a manufacturer to go to the trouble of making a cutaway model doesn't it.

EDIT... correction... Switch is Isolated!
the switch wires are routed directly into a rubber grommeted hole on the side of the frame before safe routing between he frames.

Also note no extension leads required. all servos where placed in such a way that they make the Heli CG neutral yet all leads reach the receiver without extension leads.

I love it!

I do know that there was talk of a optional radio tray above the current one for any additional "gadgets" if required?? I will have to ask as I cant see how this would be mounted?

Britz have just launched a basic web site, take a look at

http://www.blitz-helicopters.com/

Currently there is only a basic specification page. I imagine that the full site will go live once the Avro is available for sale.

I asked that very question on Sunday and was shown where the provision is for the second radio tray, there are extra mount points for a second tray or for mounting the original tray higher up on the frames maybe 2 inches above the first tray.

It appeared to me that every single question I asked had the answer waiting and had already been built into the design, and if it wasn't already there (such as the second radio tray) the provisions had already been made for it to be added.

At first I thought this was a spot the difference photo

It looks like there is more damage to the pilots ego then the machine.

I just cant wait to get mine now.
