My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Got a question about the phasing of the head. I have a 90 & 50. The 50 is real stable in the hover, the 90 bounces around. I was going over the difference between the two and came up with a pasing difference. The 50 is lined up straight, ie, the blades over the tailboom, and the balls are lined up. The 90 is set like the pic on Daves Gohbee site. (About 10 deg off). Whats with the phasing in the pic? Every heli I have setup has been like my 50. Ideas?

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Look at your man rotor head from above, is the flybar dead 90 degrees to the rotor blades? if not, the inputs need to be advanced or delayed.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		On my 90 I ended up setting the phasing to have the flybar lined up with the tail boom and the balls in alignment.
I did a bunch of experimenting with phasing and ended up just 1 or 2 degrees from a straight alignment, about half of what is recommended.

I am very hard pressed to tell the difference in the air between the strait alignment and the couple of degrees recommended.

What the phasing does is to change the interaction between the aileron and elevator. It allows to to tune it to zero.

The only place I notice it is while flying on a perfectly calm day and doing continuous loops or rolls while concentrating very hard not to allow any extra aileron or elevator input and see if the loops or rolls start to drift.

Try playing with it to exactly hat difference it makes for you and your setup and style of flying. As long as you do not go more than about 10 degrees from center there is no danger to the heli. I have found that different blades want a different angle.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn a little more first hand on what setup tweaks can do for the heli.
