I have a milly 90, just finished it. I bought it from ebay.de. It had a 60 size OS then, but I converted it to millennium 90
OS 91 C Spec and 15 tooth pinion.
Other things I run: MP II, GY601 Gyro, Governor GV1, Razor mainblades 710mm 190g, all digi servos, Quick UK header tank and Conley VP30 Perry pump.

You can see some pictures here - Millennium

I don`t know when I`ll make the first flight, problably in early june.

YOU HAVE ALL MISSED A VITAL PART!

Sorry for joining late to the discussion, but the orginal post from skylark asked for missing items:

You need the S4541 FLANGED NUT to go on the Webra 91 (I would bet that it is an OS shaft)

Without this part you will not be able to finish building the model never mind blade type, servos, carbon upgrades etc.

I still cannot believe they do not include this in the kit. 99% of people in the world use OS style shafts not Heim.

2 people I know bought Milleniums did not know and was not told about it when buying the kit.

NUT

There is a longer shaft version Engines from Webra,
all you need is to ask for this engine.
as for others, i saw many helis flying with standard nut, its true it will catch only 3-4 threads from the shaft, but still will hold.
Hope it helps

To back up what Alex said.

You can get the Webra 91 with the OS or Heim style crank. The Heim version will drop straight in without the need for the flanged nut.

I have another Webra 91 on the way for my 2nd Millennium.

Need that 2nd model for the 3DMasters.

Kev, Hope you get everything together and see you at the 3DMasters.

Regards

Paul

Hi Alex

I think you missed my point.

I do not think most people would like to choose a Heim version of an engine just so it is compatible with Robbe. Of course there are people who do prefer them - I have no problems with that. I am talking about the other 90% of the heli world who use OS standard shafts.

How infuriating is it to find out during a build that you have the wrong part for your engine and are required to spend another £9 for a nut and delayed several days? Robbe should include this nut as standard and make the Heim version an optional extra. Better still include both. Otherwise put a large sticker on the box to say compatible with Heim shaft only.

I disagree with your advice about partially tightening the engine nut on 3-4 turns! I think this is totally outrageous and is very bad workmanship and bad practice. I don't care if people already fly like this with no problems - it is wrong. This is a critical part of the heli. Who would trust their heli, all just for the sake of a nut?

Sorry, but I think you agree too much with what Robbe do and say.

I like Robbe products but they don't always think the customer is right.

Hi,

you should try to get a YS nut in Europe...

I guess it would cost about 5$ extra if robbe included all three nuts. I really wonder if they will add it to the Milli3 kit, as this is targeted to the US market.

Andi

Hi all,

Maybe alittle off topic but the following links might be interesting for you Milli flyers . Many upgrade parts and conversion sets ( belt driven tail etc.. ) for Milli and other robbe helis are available from Jürgen Schwing.

Hi,

afaik he doesn't sell outside Germany. But you can get this stuff from Alex (rcmarket.org) or ronlund.com.

With his parts you should get a Milli or even a Nova far below 4.5kg. Will cost a little fortune though!

Somewhere I posted how much weight this items save, try a search.

NUT

Shagga

here is your mistake,
we are importing Robbe, but i have my own opinons, and beleive me,
when i went to Nuerenberg, i asked the guys over here to give their comments and questions towards Robbe, and i was there spending 1 hour to go over the main important questions of guys from all around,
while not all are my customers???
you dont see the other posint, when i have to critisize their product i do that, without informing every one of course. trust me on that.
as for the nut, i will take your idea, and from now on, every kit we will sell, 4543 nut will be included, depends on the motor customer will use.
After giving free MAH blade with any kit, i will happy to add this part( fro free)

Also will Suggest to Robbe .

Guess what - I now have a Millie 2, it took me a while picked it up today. Is that 28 or 29 days to prepare for 3d masters - not that the one day will make much difference

I am not sure if I have the right collet and nut to fit the os91 c spec in the model though.

I have parts S4543 and S3193. The posts above mention the 4543 or the 4541 - are they the same.

Kev

New Robbe man

Hello,

My two new Robbe Milli have the same servo setup...
JR DS8231 All around
JR DS8311 Collective

Robbe FS 250 off a new CSM 560 Gyro
JR 8700g off a JR 5000t Gyro

Have not flown them yet since I am still putting them together but will soon.

But so far I absolutely love these Robbe machines
they go together beautifully and are built clean.

Can't wait to fly them!

Lubricants

I'm wondering which oils or grease I need and where on the millie 2.

The instructions talk about; Synthetic Oil (robbe 5531), grease (robbe 1315) as optional items you can buy. I need to get something quick and local, maybe from halfords if possible.

Supplied in the kit is some microlube GL261 by klober.

I'm wondering what to use on the following areas;
1. p18, s4448 auto unit - would 3 in 1 home oil do ???
2. p18, s4615 tail drive gear - i'm guessing the microlube supplied
3. p24, s2972 swash plate - 3 in 1 again ???
4. p32, s1551, microlube ???
5. p38, s4747 tail coupler, microlube ???
6. p38, s0319 tail gears, microlube ???
7. p44, s48031 main gear pinion, microlube ???

Many Thanks,
Kev

P.S. the robbe manual also talks of locktite medium strength (robbe 5074) as an option. But their appears to be some loctite in the kit, that I'm guessing is the same part number - any one know ???

Oli/Grease, ETC

Metal bearings, and metal to metal (swash, sliders, etc...)- use OIL 5531.
Gears, like tails, use Grease 1315
Platic to metal is no need of oil/grease. you can use it, but wont do any big differences.

thanks futurac, i have ordered the proper robbe items.

OS91 C spec question. Does anyone know if the std engine washer is needed between the top bearing and the robbe collet, or do you remove the washer.

Kev

I didn`t use it.
I saw no reason for it since the tapered colet is the same diameter.

Hi

It is normally best to use the OS washer as this stops the brass collet from wearing against the bearing, even if you don't use it, it is not normally a problem but it is just possible that the collet crushing slightly will eventually cause the fan/clutch to work loose.

Thanks BobJ. I have kept the washer on.

My only stumbling block now is finding a Muscle Pipe 2, and I think this hurdle is unjumpable. Seems they are just too popular. If anyone knows of one in the UK new or used please let me know - by private email in case anyone else is looking - and we can try to arrange payment, postage or collection. If anyone in Hampshire has one they don't need for a few days, and you would consider lending it out also contact me.

regards,
kev
