Mavrikk Blades?

Zephan

I have seen comments here on RR several times the Mavrikk rotor blades are no good. Is this the general consensus? All of the Mavrikk blades? Why are they no good? Since I have progressed to not crashing every month and doing some aerobatic and light 3D flying, I have started flying a set of Mavrikk Pro G4 600 blades that came with my original Raptor 50 kit instead of the standard wood blades and I have found them quite nice. Are they just not suited for aggresive 3D? Track badly? Auto poorly? Balanced bad (my set was dead on)?

That is a good question I have a set of Mavrikk blades also and I think their OK

I made a comment about Heil-Max CF blades cause I use them on two of my nitro heli's and I got shot down because I think their OK

But other people don't think so

The general concensus (from what I can gather) is that their CG is too far back making them prone to "woofs" and possibly "poofs" if you have too much play in your control linkages. Mainly in the Raptor 30/50 V1.

I flew G4 600s on my R50 V2 until TT came out with theirs at the same price. I can tell you that the G4's made the characteristic helicopter sound while on high G maneuvers. The TT do not make that sound so loud. I'm not sure about the reason for the sound, but there is a difference there.

I have a set of 680s on my R60 with an OS70 and the sound is still there, but the since the linakges are reversed on the 60 and I keep a good eye on my linkage system, I have no worries.

All Mavrikk blades Suck

They are okay for light aerobatics but if you get aggressive with them you will regret it.....they tend to woof and poof quite a bit...I would just get rid of them and get something else If I were you....When you push those blades they get all out of track and may take you out of the air...I just wouldn't risk it ...You couldn't pay me to run Mavrikks any more...

Here is a link that I got off of Raptor Technique that explains how to fix the woof http://pages.sbcglobal.net/g2driver/_wsn/page10.html

I don't do extreme 3D and the Mavrikk and Heil-Max CF work for me

i've actually used some mavrikk blades and they flew well (on other friend's helis)... and their weight and CG were PERFECT from the manufacture when i checked them out oposed to TT, they're usually off by a tad. i've also noticed that the finish on the mavrikks is better quality than TT (not so many pin holes in the epoxy) But i always tend to buy TT blades or Curtis Youngblood blades for my own machines.

if you're on a budget and want carbon blades then go for them. nothing really wrong with them. if you can afford to pay a tad more then get TT or CY.

Money is not an issue with me I use the mavrikk on my R60 w/os61 and I use Heil-Max on my R60 w/tt70 and on my hawk sport I have Heil-Max also.

But I don't do any extreme 3D just some invert and some loops and just flying around. If I was to do extreme 3D then I would put some of the best CF blades I could find on them

I found they break about the same as the TT's when they come in contact with dirt. Just about when I think I have the heli tuned nice.

I have a set of Mavericks pros on my Titan 50 and they seem to be good blades. Will know more when I get more flights on them.

Mavericks suck.
Comments like that are just useless (unless of course you just want to increase your post count).

Even TT woodies don't suck if all you are doing is hover practice and a lot of crashing.

WHY do you think they suck? For all types of flying they suck?

I fly nothing but Mavrikk Carbon blades on all 6 of my helis ranginging from an MX400 up to a Vigor 60. Never had any problems whatsoever and no Woof and Poof. All were balanced out of the pack. I have had problems with TT blades though. Been flying them for 3 years now. The price is right unless you just have to have the better, and more expensive blades. A lot of people hate Maverikk's and a lot of people like them. You have to make the choice.

There is nothing wrong with Mavrikk's. They are a great blade for someone who is making the transition from beginner hovering to forward flight, and will do lite 3D quite well.

Everyone will have an opinion on which blades are "Good" and which ones "Suck", but they truth of the matter is....

Did you really think the $45 Mav's were going to fly as nice as the $100 V's and Radix's.....????

You get what you pay for!!

I was just hovering with my Mav woodies and they flew apart. And no the head speed wasn't too high. Cost me over $200 in damage and I still can't find the problem that's causing a slight tail wag. Was flying perfect before that. Heliproz took care of me and sent me a set of Mav carbon fibers which in my mind took care of the issue, but I still had to deal with a lot of stuff tore up and I was only hovering about 10 feet high and I have never done 3d.

I've been flying Mavrikk fiberlass, G4 Carbons, and G4-Pros for at least four years. They are installed on two Trexes, a Hirobo Freya, a Hirobo EVO50, a Kyosho Caliber 5, and three Kyosho Caliber 30's.

I have had absolutely NO problem with them -- ever. No Woofing, No Poofing, they track great, they fly fine. I've seen a lot of helicopters at fun-flies sporting Mavrikk blades, and have not seen them cause their pilots a moment's notice.

I've never found a pair to be poorly matched out of the box with regard to weight or CG location. I've not had a warped pair, or a set that didn't deliver good performance.

If you have woofing problems, it's time to figure out what's wrong with your collective system instead of simply blaming it on the blades.
