It's hard on the pocket book only if ya ain't got a thick enough pocket book! If your barely running check to check on regular expenses, then this hobby is tough to keep around, or at least keep flying all the time.

I know a guy that buys old Mustangs, but they are all rotted badly, he has like 5 or 6 of them and none of them run, yet when he showed them to me his eyes got real big like he has gold laying on the ground there,, he bought 7 more Mustangs for $2200 from a guy that were totally rotted so he could strip them and have the parts ,,

and he has 2 old late 60's flat bottom V-drive speed boats, both boats are literally coming apart at their seams (literally the seams are cracking/separating), so he goes out and has both V8 boat motors rebuilt, 1 motor was rebuilt 12 years ago and has 1 hour of time on it, the 2nd motor was rebuilt 10 years ago and it has maybe 8 hours of time on it, the 1st motor cost $3000 to rebuild and the 2nd motor cost $3600 to rebuild,,

and what does he tell me when I told him I crash~~ "boy you got an expensive hobby",,, go figure !!

so 1 day I told the guy, "you know if you put that money you had in all that stuff in just 1 car and 1 boat you would have a nice boat and a nice car to pull it with" ,,, he said nothing..

I figure I have less money in my heli and planes, yet I use them more,, I win !!

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		People make it an exspensive hobby because they perfer to purchase "upgrades". If you ever get a chance to attend an RC fly - in or an RC Heli fly - in most helis will have bling/un-needed/show-off parts. Bling is where the money is.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Yes it costs several grands for a heli, and ongoing expenses. But I don't understand why would somebody want to have more than 1 or 2 helis? What's the point of having 5-6-10? May be I don't understand something. And buying cheap is always buying several times. 9 out of 10 times.

I let my wife do some hover training in the driveway. 15 min later after picking up the pieces and trying to quit laughing I have the green light to get it flyable again(read JR digi pack). 3rd time in a year this has worked. She plays along.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		try harley's and road trips to sturgis every other year, plus all the other place in between. maybe 8-10k per summer this hobby cost but does not compare to other things I'm into.. try ammo for full auto,, I dont do that nay more but that was costly for a weekend shoot could cost few grand. what does one hunting trip cost,, big game not rabbit,

what makes it nice for me is wife like her new clothes, and goes out to eat every day at work,, so I get to spend the same amount on me.. I can wear the same pair of jeans for few years before they rot off I take lunch or dont eat.. more cash for parts..

bad part of this hobby is son want to start flying also, I can feel the drain starting already.. do I get him a DSm system and keep using my 9C or do I give him 9C and I get new DSM? may I should just get him the new AIR HOG and save more for parts. should I feel bad about getting son addicted to this hobby
