Volcomsnows, does the stock "4-in-1" have an output for the CC ESC, or did you have to modify it?

RdJeff: You're totally welcome! PM me anytime!

KeithK: There is a small step where you have to soldier in the 4 in 1. You are basically tapping off the + and - in the power portion of the 4 in 1. Using a BEC plug you soldier to the points. If you do not do that, the tail rotor motor operates at half the speed and has NO holding power. When you guys are ready to do this mod, I will post detailed pics and instructions.

Caveat Emptor

Watch out for Venom products. I bought a NR3D and it smoked the electronics as soon as I plugged it in. Returned it and the second one had all kinds of weird glitches where it just took a nose dive for no reason at all. Also the parts in the head would break if you looked at them cross-eyed. Turns out many other people have the same problems. Returned it for a refund. I found out later that Venom is basically taking the Walkera helicopter (crappy chinese junk famous for cheap electronics) and rebadging it, painting it green and marking up the price 100%.

If you want a good little heli in this size range look at the Firefox/MiniZoom/PixyZap. For the price Venom is charging you can set one of these up with brushless and everything to make it a really good little heli.

Lou,

Understand. This is mostly (totally?) a "greenified" Walkera 52#1, but now there are parts readily available via mail order and at the local hobby shop, and it does sound like Venom is concerned with quality and customer satisfaction. I think they have come a long way.

Volcomsnows, I am actually thinking about going with separates but if it can't handle the additional weight of the separate items I would like to at least go brushless on the main motor.

Thanks All,
keith

Landing Gear

Does anyone know if there a replaceable landing gear that isn't the plastic one? First real flight (after the tweaking) and just landed hard and the landing gear snapped (no other damage).
By the way, I added 5 grams to the nose (I used an eraser shaped like the nose) and as long as it stayed above the wash of the rotors, I barely had to trim it. Paul at Venom said to turn the battery sideways but I found that too unstable for my ability. I also had to turn the pitch adjustment on one rotor 1/2 a turn and it stabilized the head right away. Getting that tail boom parallel makes a big difference.
Check the pitch of the rotors and the Flybar out of the box, I had to tweak both but got very good results.
Paul also suggested I adjust the tracking of the motor to the main rotor gear so that the motor was just spinning the gear without losing contact with any teeth (supplied allen key for adjustment).
This has dramatically changed how hot my motor gets.
Still only get about 5 minutes out the battery.
Any help with the landing gear would be great,

Cheers

I got one of these 2 days ago and I just cant leave it alone.
very stable hovering if you set the expo how you like it..yet lots of throw for aeros if you give it full stick.
I sort of love and hate the supplied li-po 200 mah..it is sooo light that for the 4 minutes it lasts the model is very spritely even with the stock motor...with +- 10 degrees on 3d flight mode the pitch is very sensitive..but I like that.
im sending off for the 270 mah li-pos now...dont want to get it any heavier if poss..this thing is super controlable..thumbs up from me so far.

I flew the micro today at a church hall that we use every other sunday...very small area..this little thing gets lost in it..it just sits there hovering..nice head speed..not screaming high..but certainly not low..hardly makes a sound..touch the controls and its off, like a scalded cat..will get my 270 mah li-pos this week..then I will see what it can do..outdoor first in low wind then eventually in that church hall.

Brushless Conversion

Hi guys,

By the way, paul at Venom has been a great help with questions about the 3D Micro, thanks Paul. He also told me about another brushless conversion that someone did in Canada with excellent results. He said the person was gettin 20 minutes flight time on the little beast. If this person reads this I'm sure there would be a bunch of us interested in getting the specs and directions for the conversion.
I'll PM you, volcomsnow2k when I'm ready do do this as well.
(I would like to compare the different ideas)

Cheers!!!

If you want to get good flight times out of you venom micro all you need it brushless with a small tooth pinion. When I first got mine I was using minizoom flat bottom blades and a 7 tooth pinion and I got 20min of hovering and 17 of fast forward flight but the heli was weak. Now that I loop roll and go inverted with it I run a 9 tooth with gov mode on and idle up all the time and minizoom wooden blades and I get about 6 min or hard flying.

You guys are saying the NR3D Micro is the same as the Walkera 52, but it sounds like the Venom is more stable?

Ive been very interested in this heli as well. I want something non coaxial to fly around the office at work, and the only small helis i could find were 2-3 channel knock off helis. I saw this at the LHS yesterday and was blown away at how small it is while still being a full 6 channel bird. The battery and motor concerns are troubling but i cant help but be interested....

venom micro 3d

Hi ninjaofdoom

If you are a beginner start with the Venom Ocean Rescue, You do not have to fight with the tail rotor or you can try the venom 3D micro.
Venom has "ECELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE" for any type of help.

Thank You Ken, KBHeli
