Blade CP Brushless Conversion Up-Date

As reported earlier, A purchased the Sonics ESC, Brushles adaptor, and outrunner combo from Helidirect. For some unknow reason, the main motor will not arm. I got alot of great suggestions from everyone, but as of today, no success, and I'm realy bummed-out!

Here's what I'v tried to pin-point to root-cause of the problem:
1) Overall Wiring: I have double checked and triple checked, and I can not find a mis-wiring issue anywhere.

2) ESC: I think this is working properly because I'm able to change the setting throuh the use of one of those lttle programing cards. If the ESC were faulty, or the wiring between the ESC and the brushless adaptor, I won't be able to change the settings in the ESC.
ESC Settings:
Brake: Off
Battery Type: LI-xx
Cut-Off: Soft-Cut
Cut-Off Voltage: Middle
Start Mode: Vert Soft
Timimg Mode: Middle
Govenor Mode: Off

3) Outrunner Motor: When I power-up and it goes though the initialization, the motor does emmits the correct music tunes and through the series a beeps, confirms ESC settings audibly. So, I think the motor is getting power and communicates with the ESC.

4) Brushless Motor Adaptor: When I power-up, the LED flashes three times as the instruction sheet states. So, I think it's getting power.

I don't know what to do next. The LHS here in south-central Wisconsin really suck! They have no expertise in electric helis at all! I spoke with Helidirect, and they have no clue as to what my problem could be. The only thing I have not considered is the li-po bat. I have a 1200 eflite 3-cell lipo. At this time , I only have one, could the bat. be bad, and cut-off voltage is coming into play? Is there anyone in the my area that can take a look at my heli provide a diagnosis?

Springs just around the corner, and I got to get my heli sorted-out and back flying!

Sorry for the lengthy rant - I'm realy frustrated!

Thanks guys!!!

power, and doing its thing.

This doesn't work with stock blade cp radio. It won't power the main motor until about 3/4 stick and then it goes to 100% power. It is like trying to takeoff in idle up. I ended up buying the e-flite 3 in 1($45) and 6 channel reveiver ($25),( what comes std on the CP pro) to get my brushless ESC and motor to work. It works perfectly now. It costs $70 that way but it at least it works. I now have a $33 adapter that is worthless.
That is a review that a customer wrote for the Brushless Adaptor on helidirect. do you think that has something to do with your problem? you have the blade cp and not the cp pro right?
good luck,

I know how you feel, I bought the brushless adapter module and never did get it to work either. I ended up buying a cp pro and used the brushless motor and ESC on that, eliminating the module altogether. You can get a 3 in 1 and a receiver from a cp pro and use your brushless motor. If you don't want to spend any more money right now, you can hack in to your 4in1 and make it work without the adapter module, a little tricky but I have done it and many guys have successfully hacked into the cp 4 in 1.

I am using an Elf Hobby 4200kv bl motor on a hacked 4-in-1. For this motor and esc, all 3 servo leads of the esc needs to connected to ch3. Don't ask me why. So I soldered the wires on the rx side. Then I split battery into the 4-in-1 and esc. Actually the battery had a male jst soldered to its plug.

It works on my test 4-in-1. This one's faulty so I am waiting for my new 3-in-1.

Turn on a dime. Flip like a quarter. Feel like a million bucks.

Blade CP Brushless Conversion Up-Date

Thank for all the feedback. I spoke with someome at Heli-direct regarding the problems I've had with their brushless conversion kit. The guy told me that early versions of the brushless adaptor had bugs, and the latest version 1.2 has up-dated firmward, and works fine. I was told that version # could be found on the pcb on the adaptor but I could'nt find it.

I was some what surprised by the explaination... if the early adaptors were faulty, would'nt more complaints have surfaced - Heli-Direct has been sol-out of the things on more than oe occation. Has anyone else heard of this explaination?

I'm thinking of purchasing a CP Pro 6 ch. rec. & 3in1 and be done with it. I don't want to hack into my 4in1, plus the 3in1 will allow me to add a separate gyro in the furture. Is this conversion as simple as swapping out the 4in1 with a 3in1 and replacing the receiver?

Thanks for all the help!

Yes, It is as simple as switching your 4 in 1 for a 3 in 1 and receiver. You could keep your 4 in 1 as a spare or sell it, fetches a decent price on EBAY even for a used one.

So you don't need the adapter if you have a pro with the 3-n-1? DOHT! I just ordered the complete brushless conversion kit on Helidirect also and I have cp pro. I thought I needed the entire kit....does anybody want a never opened adapter? Let's say $20 plus shipping when I get it.

Off the ground....now onto moving forward
