Hi all,

Allright, I've had my mini Titan for a while now and I absolutely love it, till now.

I can't get it to track. It was fine one week, then brought it out again a week later and wham, out of track for no reason and no matter what I do and tweak it won't come back into track????

I checked the spindle, its straight. ????? At a total loss here. Also checked all screws on the head and balls, everything's tight. No slop in the bearings.

I swear, I think I'm cursed when it comes to micro helis.

Anybody else out there have any issues like this and get them fixed?

Thanks.

I had those issues with one of the Titans, someone here suggested glueing he bearings into the wash-out arms, and Bell mixers. Problem solved.

Not really. Bearings into plastic arms is not a real good solution if they aren't a tight fit. In the case of the Mini Titan, they aren't.

Can you tell me which bearings I should glue? I am not good at English and I am not sure what glue.

Son a biotch. I was just going nuts with the same problem. I rebuilt the head and linkages three times and it still did it. I will try this tonight.

Here's the fix. Use some medium CA on the washout lever bearings and the bell hiller mixer bearings. You only want to glue the outer races to the levers and you only need to use a little CA on each bearing on 2 or 3 spots on the outer race. Take a Q-Tip soaked in alcohol and clean the bearing bores and the bearing outer races and let them both dry a minute. Squeeze some CA onto the end of a toothpick and apply little dots to the outer races, insert them into the levers and wipe any excess off.

Let the CA dry and install the levers into the appropriate locations. Make sure the levers move freely and without slop and the tracking issues should go away.

This SOP for Schluter System 88 machines and up as well as the very earliest X-Cell's dating back to their introduction.

Thanks for the tip T, mine has been doing this since i got it. The problem is worse the faster i spin it. Right now i am waiting on the metal head block before i muck about with bearings.

we can never have too many, can we ?

i got a sneaking suspicion that the tracking might be due to the balls. I have links which can pop IN quite easily. I ovserved that tracking can change when I give cyclic, which is where it induce pressure on links and balls. is there anyone with align balls that do have tracking issue too??

I have big balls(Align all around). No tracking issues. I built it that way from the get go. Stock links were very tight. I tried to size one and then it would pop off or in with the slightest pressure.Plus those little screws are a real pain in the arse to work with. The Align screws are small enough for me. I used a 1.5mm finger drill to open up the holes for the screws. The Align links I put on were very smooth and required no sizing. Took a little while to get the lengths right but if you take your time its no problem. Only part of this kit that I did'nt like. I'm sure many will have no problems with the stock setup so its just a personal choice.I cut the grips 5mm and JB weld'd the head. Spins like a top.

Yes,
I have the align balls and links and still have tracking issues, even with the grip post cut 3mm.
it is only out of track at the beginning of the flight in first hover before I apply pitch. Once I do a good climbout then come back to hover, the tracking is right on the money.
blades are just barely snugged in the grip.

Every detail counts!

I have about 20 flights on mine, still tracking perfectly. I did rip apart the head and lubed the dampners, spindle, and trust bearings with Silicone grease. Anytime I saw the tracking going out on my Align, the spindle shaft and dampners were dry. Hope this helps.

I work to play!

Hi Guys

I beleave the problem to be the blade grip control arms,
They are ok at first but after some amoount of flying they get weak.
Try changing the blade grips

Can't wait untill the upgraded parts become available to prove this theroy.

The control arm are designed to break off in a crash this makes them weak and after some time flying the tracking is off, This is more pronounced with ca5rbon blades.

you see, the issue with my tracking in consistency is that it changes when i give cyclic, AND STAYS THAT WAY, until i perhaps give a cyclic in some random direction that forces the tracking back in. it cant be the blade grips if the tracking could stay, coz the material would want to spring back. I've already glued my mixer arm bearings and chop 3mm off my blade grips arms. perhaps i should try changing the links or balls to new ones or align

As I have said its not the blade grips but the control arm on the blade grips flexing, This flexing in the control arm is what makes the tracking go in and out at random this is only my theory of what is happening to my M titan. shorting the control arm will minimise this effect but not eliminate it.

Others have change the links with out success so that is not the way to go.

Thats interesting to note. And yet there are people who fly with no afflictions, though through inspection it appears there are no differences. geez, its acting up just like a girl.

THat's exactly how mine's acting! I found that V blades make the problem much worse, went back to the woodies and it started tracking again.

But, then it decided to cut mid air on me! DANG IT!!!
