I can see this thread quickly turing into a "futaba tab debate." Another thread heading off subject going downhill.

Please lets keep this thread about Spekturm and improvements. I for one am very interested in a DX9 and improvements in this great radio!

Spektrum came last to the market and it should accomodate to it's own advantage a simple thing like spaces for tabs.

And it's not about Futaba, I don't care about Futaba, but the convenience it gives is important to me.

I agree.

It's funny how JR is now making a 2.4 module that works on Futaba radios. Good stuff for all of us.

I sometimes get frustrated with the Futaba tabs making it difficult to insert.

Anybody hooking up helis without paying attention to the details better get out of the hobby.

Not quite, Spektrum is not owned by JR but by Horizon Hobby who happen to be the US importer for JR radios but its close

Hard to say on the value of the 9303, I am excited about the DX9 as well though.

A beep to signify 50% on the collective stick per the Airtronics Stylus.

Sorry, that's a patented idea---no can do!

Well at least have beep programmable at any point but default to 50%! Not everyone hovers at 50% stick. There may just be some advantages in this feature.

I agree 100%. Can't seem to make a "positive" suggestion without a couple of fools taking a political stance and throwing the topic off track.

Sorry but your "positive" suggestion is political whether intended to be or not - It's only been a 25 year stand off so far but maybe everyone will finally re-tool just to accommodate Futabs now - - Between larger oddly shaped plugs or trimming tabs I choose trimming tabs thank you - Futaba can eat my trimmed tabs at company picnics.

My request... Make the telemetry module protocol open and documentation freely available on the RX side so that ESC manufacturers can interface into it to send RPM, temp, voltage, amps, etc. Discuss this with data logger manufacturers too so that they can take advantage of it. This will also allow homebrew stuff to develop for it.

@Gordon

The Mid Stick Beep is normaly not for hovering, but for the Zero degree Pitch Position for 3D Flight. Finding Neutral Pitch is very important there...

Not sure how a beep at hover helps? I guess for FAI flying? I have found hover to be a little variable depending on air, wind fuel and position of the moon so a beep at a particular stick position would be annoying to me.

On edit... yes I could see where a mid stick beep would be helpful for 3D flying.

With the Stylus you could have either a timer or a mid-stick beep but you couldn't have both at once - I woulda liked to used the mid-stick beep but I wasn't willing to give up the timer for it -

Speaking of beeps - That's something just about every radio needs to improve is the volume of their alarms - 2 flights in a row this week I didn't hear my timer alarm and drained my packs low - I ended up digging out the digital timer I used with my DX6 to use with my DX7 instead because I can hear it better -

DSC capability might be a useful feature at large events when too many radios get switched on to tinker with setups etc - Plus it might be nice for setup anyways for those who get the servo screams in close proximity of the radio.

Excellent thread! Hopefully Horizon Hobby and Spektrum are reading it. One request still missing from above lists:

- Change polarity of Tx charger. Over 95% of other electronic devices have barrel connector center as (+), and outer barrel connector as (-). However Spektrum has them reversed.

I would like to reiterate importance of having timer configurable so it starts with throtle stick position. This should be a free downloadable software upgrade for all DX7 users.

Thank you,

Flying Cat

The reason for this is that all of spektrums radios to this point have been modified JR units and all Jr radio's Polarity is this way ....Jr/Spektrum is right everyone else is wrong.

On the servo output screen, it would be really helpful to see the actual output value, displayed as a number, as well as the bar graph.
Also an option to zero all the outputs.
