My Posts This: Topic Forum | Hi,
I did a lot of testing regarding the lengthof the fly bar on my Unistar 60. Because I fly in the national sportsclass I wanted to get the best out of the heim head. So my opinions are related to have a stable hover and a good control in aerobatics. Only one of my unistars has the original flybar and paddles. That one barely gets me through the rolling stallturn. On another Unistar I have SAB paddles. They are 35gr and thus 5 gr lighter than the stock padles. however I made it on the same total paddlebar length as the original and found only very little more performance in aero's but hovering went more bad. I now have a 3cm longer flybar and it rolls very quick now. I think some 1.5 times quicker. I had it also 6cm longer but I thing it's to much. I know the original flybar length is 400mm (good for stock paddles, but I like 3cm more) Just test for yourself: A longer flybar makes the hover more stable and because of that the paddles have more airspeed the cyclic control also increases. The one negative issue is that it takes a lot of energy from the engine. You'll notice when rolling and not adding throttle. I read the book of Wolfgang Simon. His recommondation is 400 to 500mm.
Hope this knowledge helps,
