My Posts This: Topic Forum | GearingI tried a few gear ratios to try to make it better. I have all the pinions from 15 to 24. I sped up the head with a 24 and it was ok until you put a load on it, then it lost headspeed fast. In a full throttle flair it would go from a happy 1900 rpm to 1300 (estimated) and was nearly uncontrollable. I tried a 17 tooth pinion to increase the power of the motor, This was great for FFF but didn't attain foreward speeds I wanted it to. The last pinion I tried was 19 tooth. I got about 1750 rpm (no load) and it flew a little better, but in an emergency there was no reserve power. This caused more than one crash. They said not to use a 4 cell lipo with the red H-8 so I never tried it. I was just so angry at the heli that I put the Jeti 30-3 back in with a 4 cell lipo 19 tooth pinion, 1950 headspeed(no load). This setup has power to spare and does great climbouts inverted. I had about 20 flights on my H-8 and I bought it new. Now it is a door-stop or I might put it in a plane. |
