I prefer very soft spring tension as I find it allows me to be more precise while hovering. I have heard some people saying that they prefer ultra hard spring tension on their sticks and use "heavy duty" springs that Futaba make as the stock ones were too soft!

What stick tension on your transmitter do you prefer and why?

Cheers, Will.

I prefer harder spring tension because that is what I'm use to flying with when I use realflight. When I pick up my 9C, I find myself over correcting because the springs are so soft. And yes, I did order new futaba "heavy duty" springs.......

Will,
Soft spring tension with the sticks raked out as far as they'll go (on the 9Z).Reason for raking sticks outward is i fly fingers and thumbs and it doesn't feel as though my fingers have to stretch as much when applying left aileron or right rudder.Soft spring tension ,i find i'm less likely to crash into the secondary axis of the stick than when using tighter tension. I also fly fixed wing a different mode (Mode1) with thumbs on top,i'd hate soft springs for that.

Futaba Heavy Duty Springs for 9C

Does anyone have a part number. I currently have the stock springs as tight as they will go and I still would like it to be much tighter.

Thanks,
Chris

I run the stick tension really soft on my Airtronics Stylus - loose enough that it >almost< doesn't center the same every time you let the stick spring back to center. I've also taken most all of the resistance out of the throttle stick, so it moves with the slightest touch.

I don't know if this is the preferred setup, but I like it.

Hard on the cyclics - I used to find that I would get elevator/aileron interaction with the stock factory settings. Rudder/Pitch at factory setting.

I prefer a little bit soft than factory setting for better hovering. I have tried my hand on Curtis's TX in an event which is very very very soft.

Cheers, Happyfly

Soft

I like soft myself. Not sure why. I fly thumbs only, also an admitted stick banger.

I think it had to do with the very first Tx I had. It was a Hitec Focus 4. The default setup on these sticks are really really soft, and I just got used to it. My thumbs begin to hurt after a while, if using default on a Futaba T6XAs or other Futabas, they are way too hard out of the box.

I like it soft.
I found that while flying the Observer, hovering a couple hundred feet up, it's no fun to have your thumb fall asleep. Something about having a $5000 machine hanging in the air and not being able to feel the sticks. Not sure though. I find the same issue with long 3D flights with the gasser.

Minimum, minimum stick length as well (probably these two are related?) and no spring in throttle.

I've never adjusted mine. Are the stock JR settings soft medium or hard?
