Your IRCHA Board is pleased to announce the 2007 Jamboree dates as
AUG. 9- 10- 11-12

Sorry to have delayed the posting of the dates, but we needed confirmation before making the dates public.

We are pleased to say that you will continue to see seminars, vendors and a great event as always.
Dave M & the IRCHA Board

Well here comes the info you all have been asking about!
The board has been working so hard to complete plans for the 2007 jamboree. We would have liked to have announced this sooner, but everytime we were ready, someone else would step up and give something else that held up the release of the info. We will have more to announce as it is confirmed.

This year you have Gold Sponsors for the Jamboree. These sponsors are helping to make your jamboree bigger and better for all attendees.

Your Gold Sponsors are

Avant
Bergen Helicopters
Flight Power USA
JR / Spektrum
Mikado Helicopters
MRC Hirobo
Miniature Aircraft USA

Every hour will have a different vendor highlighting at center stage with their newest products up close and personal. A schedule of times that you will be able to see, touch and fly these items will be in your pilot packets, annouced on the PA and posted in the midway to as well as the website to insure that you don’t miss what is important to you!

Are you pre-registered? The one hundredth pre-registered pilot will be the winner an EVO 50 thanks to Jeff Green at MRC Hirobo!

IRCHA has an unannounced prize to the 250th pre-registered pilot! Oh… did I say prizes? They will be given away all weekend as well as Saturday night? As IRCHA begins to add it all up, nearly $20,000 in prizes to be given away are already confirmed from vendors! WOW!!! and there is more on the way!

This year noon demos have been stream lined to provide the highest quality entertaintment and new product releases!

The 2007 IRCHA pilot packet will include an exhibitor guide highlighting location of vendors and time for their demos and scheduled seminars. Thus far the list includes an additional day, Thursday with three seminars, with the increased interest in electric powered flight, Friday will have Lipo safety seminar, scale and manufacturer seminars throughout the day. Saturday will host another Lipo seminar and manufacturer seminars all day. Detailed schedule will be in your pilot packet and posted on the web. ( times pending manufacture confirmations)

Saturday night may have a couple of surprises in store! This information must be confirmed before it can be announced.

In tradition there will be the Saturday night night fly with an added bonus. Mark Ryder of Runryder.com is providing a $500 prize to the night fly championship winner this year! Start practicing!

Is there more? Yes you bet! As these details are confirmed, we WILL be announcing them.

Dave M & your IRCHA board

Finding a solution...

Contest Directors of smaller events also must find a solution to this problem. Impounding all transmitters and Issueing a pin to every flyer who is requesting a flight, with either a frequency number or maybe a color or alpha for Spread Spectrum Pilots. Each pin regardless of type (72Mhz or Spread Spectrum) must be TIME LIMITED. We may need to employ the use of a time clock and some form of accurate tracking to see that the system is not abused. Flightline control has now become a major job in running an event. We now have to be concerned with frequency conflicts as well as flight station sharing.

As this techology becomes more widely used, frequency control may become a thing of the past and flight station management may become the issue at hand.

Since DSS has a limited number of available channels (40?) wouldn't you still need to impound TXs? What happens if you don't impound DSS radios and a substantial number of people are in the pit area working on their heli? It's probably rare, but at a large event like the Jamboree I think it's entirely possible.

simple solutions to the problem of radio impound

One idea we might try at our funfly the Southern Rotary classic is one that might work at all fun flies. Since the spectrum radios don't need impounding they could dominate the flight lines. However why not simply give everyone two identity badges of some kind or some kind of tag badge with their regular IRCHA identification. The Tag would serve instead of the radio for those that have spectrum radios. So when someone wants to fly they come to the impound to pick up their radio, if they do not have a radio they pick up a badge, similar to the one they already give, but perhaps a different color . Everyone flying on the flight line must have this addition badge. There time can be reported for the length of time they have the tag badge. If they are spotted flying without their tag badge they can be ask to stop flying and get one. Once they finish flying they impound their radio and turn in their badge, if it is spectrum they simply turn in the badge.

This will be my first IRCHA.

Do most people camp on-site or get a hotel in Muncie?

What is the best day to get there? I could be there as early as Wendsday if there was stuff to do/watch.

best day to get there

There will probably be some pilots their as early as wednesday but Thursday is probably the first full day of fun! However, Friday and especially Saturday or the really big days.

There are people that camp on site but that depends on what you want to do. If you have an RV of some kind it is really nice to camp on site or even a tent can do but you would not have a place to freshen up. So most people get motels in Muncie or even Anderson.
If you like fun flies this is the ultimate fun fly!

Yes, DSS is limited to 40 channels. If 40 people are in the pits with their TXs on then the folks trying to fly might not get a channel. Some impound procedure may still be necessary with DSS, but not to prevent shootdowns, to prevent running out of available channels.

To Ace Dude

I could probably learn something from you, but what I was talking about was so many people with spectrum radios in small events that they dominate the flight line. IRCHA probably want have that much of a problem with that issue but smaller events possibly could.

May be a dumb question, but I looked at the IRCHA and couldn't find it...

Where exactly is it going to be held? I'm considering going, but it depends on a lot of things.

Where is the event going to be held? Is there a web site with directions. (EDIT: Never mind, found the web site...just googled IRCHA...) Some fellow pilots and I are thinking about going to this event and since it is out first I need some more information.

I can pull up hotels in Muncie but would like to know where the field is in relation to the hotels.

EDIT: Web site is www.ircha.org if anyone else was wondering.

An issue that we have had in the back of my minds for the last year or so as spread spektrum techology has developed was it effect on flight station use. As this techology becomes more widely used, frequency control may become a thing of the past and flight station management may become the issue at hand.

Make SS users still turn in the transmitter and get it out like every one else.

It is the only fair way to give every one an equal chance at flying and does no harm to the SS folks.
