Thank you Mark, it is all the creative sweat of Volker...

His design and execution of this machine is a true tour de force,
in a time when that phrase is tediously used to describe much lesser
accomplishments.

There is a new KMAX model coming...

Kamov is going to give us a factory tour during the course of the
upcoming Moscow MAKS airshow in august, when those of the one to one scale fly...

and they fly up close and extremely aggressively...

If you have not been to a Russian airshow, you have quite an experience coming in converting fuel to noise, g force, and
close and personal turbine blasts in your face....

the head pics are particularly interesting. the contra-rotating geometries are very fascinating.

could you explain the yaw system a little more? You say that its differential collective and im assuming that that would cause one head to slow making the heli yaw...but if both heads ar dirctly connected in the gearbox it would be imspossible for one to slow without the other one slowing with it...does that slider in the gear box do something about this? its really hard to tell from the pics cause everything is so close together

The 5 ?'s...
Does it fly? How fast? How High? How far? How much

Hi bob76
You do not slow one head down, it gives less pitch to one head and more to the other causing the helli to yaw, but the total pitch of the two stays the same, so lets say you are hovering, 3 degrees top and 3 degrees bottom total 6 degrees, so you wont the helli to yaw, so it gives 2 degrees to the top and 4 degrees to bottom, so it yaws, but the total pitch is the same 6 degrees, or some thing like that.

^^

right, and more pitch equals more torque and since the shafts are counter rotating you can control which way that yaw torque is applied. vice versa for opposite yaw.
