Haha, well, I'm not really that kinda guy.

Leash law? Is that the one where the dogs have to be on a leash at all times in a public park? Wow... Perfect, if only the UK had any sense...

I would love to fly in a proper field, I would be willing to pay a lot for that too. Although not any local around here.

Yeah I heard about that once on the forums before, I thought is that really real? That would be so nice around here. The field I fly at also says to clean up your dog's mess too, which makes perfect sense right? Amount of times I've seen people walking past me, talking on there mobile while there dog takes a dump and then just carry on walking while on there mobile, they saw there dog and also stopped to wait, but still do nothing...

yah that's how its supposed to be done.
leash on at all times.
They have "Dog parks" where its all fenced in and people can let their dogs run and play without bothering any non-dog people which is how it should be.

Flying in "Public Park" legal...

It all depends on the guidelines set down in the law for that town.
As far as the person that said their council member says the city council "owned" the park..NOT. No city council members "pitch-in" their money and go to a Realtor and buy some property, then turn around and call it a "public park". Individual purchase or group purchase of real estate is defined as "Private", therefor the Public Park is not owned by any town or city council. Their money did or does not buy parks, the tax-payers purchase it thru the city or town treasury.
So the fellow that says his city council owns his park, I say, go talk to the County Tax Clerk and see for yourself you will see that council member needs to be "enlightened".

I have flown in vacant ball fields. No problem, no spotter, no people. It was 5AM - 7AM. Not too many people standing around looking for something to do or kids out to ride bikes over your "bird".

I have flown my EFlight MCX in a Mall and in air terminals while waiting for my own planes to arrive. Draw quite the crowds. Great little item to get people interested. Very light, 1 oz. able to turn on a dime. very responsive..if you swap out their transmitter for a DX 6 or 7. I can hover it for minutes at a time and a few people have held out their hands for me to land on.
Now that chopper is great for crowded areas like parks and wont hurt a fly, well maybe a fly.

A 600 at a park with no spotter, eh,,, I would have wanted a spotter and at least flown on the other side of some sort of barrier. It would have probably prevented a bike from trashing the chopper. Only thing to worry about then is the child running up and grabbing it, throwing it down, stomping it, and kicking it away as you stood in shock!! But that is why you should fly with a friend as spotter, it prevents "accidents" like that.

Look up the town ordinances before flying at a public park.

Even IF there are NO ordinances or codes stating specifically that RC of any kind is prohibited, all it takes is for ONE person to call the cops and report it as a NUISANCE.

I live adjacent to a 3 acre neighborhood park in Orange County, CA. I started flying a year ago with a blade CP in the corner of the park nearest to my house. I went through about 6 of those helis in the first month, crashing into trees, walls, picnic tables or whatever, but all right there in the corner when no one was right there. I gradually got better, got a teacher, and drew a bit of a following and now I'm flying a Trex 450 out there with the full night set-up pretty much every night. I never fly after 9:45 at night and I usually get a few people coming out to watch and ask questions. There is a sign in the park that says - in addition to a lot of other stuff - that there are to be no dogs off leash and no model aircraft but no one has ever said anything and there are way cool dogs that cruise the park with their owners quite often. On at least 2 occasions the local PD has stopped in a marked black & white near the park and watched the flying without saying anything.

On Saturdays when my instructor comes out we have flown Raptor 50 nitros for a couple minutes at least a couple times to check the set-up and no one has complained. I guess I'm lucky but it seems that if you're courteous, friendly, and don't overdo it you can get away with quite a bit.

Orange County, CA has a specific ordinance that prohibits flying in any County park. Most cities have adopted that law as well. Flying can only be legally done with written permission.

It may, or may not, be enforced at any given time. I've been thrown out of parks by the Sheriff for flying a glider, other times I've flown some electric planes with no issues. Go figure.

Reality is Subjective. At least that's what I think!!
