wonder if you can still get parts for it.

Helihobby still carries all the parts for these old birds, but unfortuantly they like to not ship you your orders, so good luck!!

That old manual is quite interesting.

I like the second to last line in the manual:

So who knows what the next few years will bring in helicopter flying and desing.

I still have a brand new whirleybird in the box. Most parts are still in the original packages. I was impressed to see the post with the whirleybug button. My kit contains one of those as well.

Steve Poretz has two or three Whirlybords, with the one in the picture in flying condition. I will defer to Dave and Terry on whether the Whirlybird or the Hegi Cobra was the first kit as that was a few years before I started.

As I am building a Kavan Jet Ranger right now and it brings home how truly difficult it was learning to fly back in the 70's, something that gets forgotten in the intervening 30 years.

Furious Vigor,

You are probably right about the value of the kit but it is not for sale.

While at the last IRCHA, I went to the AMA museum during one of the rainstorms. My intention was to see the museum and potentially put the kit on loan to the AMA for display in the mock hobby shop. I was told that they would not take things on loan and that I would have to donate the kit in order to have it displayed. I am unwilling to give up the kit so the deal was off.
