Synergy R/C Synergy N5 & N9>All Synergy Dial Indicating Problems SOLVED once and for all |
| Tyler Elite Veteran | I just installed a new product that makes dial indicating the fan/clutch assembly a worry of the past for Synergy owners.I was trying to install the stock fan hub on an OS 70, and the closest I could get it, after 8 hours of fiddling, several phone calls to Todd, and a visit to a couple of field reps (2 hours away!) was about 9 thousandths. On many attempts it was out as much as 18 thou!!I know I was doing everything correctly because I watched the instructional video posted on the Synergy web site, and I even took my tools and parts to a machine shop and they verified that my tools and technique were proper.Go to Hyperformancerc.com and check out the hyper hub. I received mine in the mail last night. I followed the instructions posted on the web site and on the first try the OS 70 dialed in with a total run out of 1.5 thou. That is only 3/4 thou actual off center! First Try!! Not 8 hours later and many phone calls later. First Try!! 5 Minutes!!I will go back and see if I can get it closer than that, but heck, this is way within reasonable specs right out of the gates.I ordered the hyperhub at $69.99, and they changed the price for an introductory offer after sending payment. I was surprised to see that I was only charged the sale price or $64.95.If you have a synergy under the Christmas tree and are worried about dial indicating the hub, and you don't have the tools to dial indicate, I would say one might be just fine spending your money on the hyperhub instead of the dial indicator, indicator stand, etc.I cannot wait to see how well it installs on my OS 90, as this engine was much closer to specs when using the stock Synergy parts.Oh, yeah, the black anodizing reminds me a lot of the top shelf quality and clean machining of Hirobo's high end parts.Tyler![]() ![]() ![]() | ||

| raptorheli2 Elite Veteran | superb stuff.be better if synergy could get one of these and figure out how to actually make one that does dial properly instead of buying a kit and then having to shell out 65 bucks for something you really shouldn't need to. all credit to the company though, there is a market for this and no one else (insert synergy rc here) seems to be that bothered.cheers

| Stu. Veteran | My fan was a bag of crap, it looked something like this.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSmoBcsRi-gMachined off centre on the second pass. Absolutely ridiculous. If you think thats even close to acceptable, feel free.Between the design of the clutch stack making this whole assembly CRITICAL. Its madness to not get ti as good as possible.Clutch stack should not be designed this way, period.Needs, i repeat under 1 thou, 2 thou is just about acceptable.Oh and i needed 2 hubs, and 14 hours total.Stuwww.waterfoothelis.com | ||

| raptorheli2 Elite Veteran | indeed p.j. please remember because yours was ok doesn't mean that the rest of ours were....there are 4 synergys in our club. you want to guess how many fans dialed right in at close (i would have taken same postcode to be honest) to acceptable?i'll save you the bother, divide sod all by sod all and you get the answer...namely, sod all of them. this is a welcome upgrade imo and is our only option untill synergy come up with something better which is surely on the cards i would have thought.this fan is the fly in the synergy ointment imo and it's easily fixed so please take note SRC (and yes i've said it on synergy forum and via pm before the crowd starts)cheers

| Tyler Elite Veteran | P.J. What possible motive would I possibly have for exagerating the time I spent on dialing this OS 70?I used the same hub on one of my OS 90's and got it to 4.5 thou. I called and talked to Todd about his experience with using the 70, and he said he had none. I offered to send the engine to him and see what he thought could possibly cause such a difference between my 70 and 90.I agreed to drive 2 hours to meet a couple of field reps and let them try to dial indicate the motor. Again, with the 90 we could get it close, but not to my standards of sub 1 thou. The 70 just wouldn't cooperate.I took the 70 to a machine shop to have it measured and compared against my 90. The 70 actually dialed more true on the crank shaft by 1/2 thous. However, when trying to install the hub, it simply would not work!!I then got a replacement set of collets. No joy.I then got a replacement hub. No joy.Now tell me that I didn't give this an honest and fair shake!!This hyperhub has taken the hassle out of ever swapping engines or performing maintenence on my Synergy.I know I am not alone with this problem. The Synergy flies so well, it is worth the investment to me.Your milage may vary...Tyler | ||

| P.J. Veteran | Tyler,I just wondered y put an Os 70 in a Synergy, I'd find it under powered. as for dial indicating I spent about 3hrs and got it under 2 thou which i was happy with.P.J.SAB Heli Division | ||
