Just for sh#*s n Giggles, I bought a BLADE CX2...

All the great hype in my opinion...

HIROBO - Not even in the same class as the Blade CX2

Why?... Don't want to start a big problem, however, first off I do fly glo heli's and I am not a beginner, I understand these are just for fun and cheap to buy, but the Blade cannot stand up to HIROBO's product (Lama).

Nothing like flying approx. 8 mins to charge for another 2 hours...

Nothing like constantly using the trim tabs to keep the heli stable...

Nothing like everybody talking about all the CNC upgrades to put into the Blade, in my opinion to not make any difference in flight at all... I have a friend who put all the upgrades on, still no diff...

I guess I can keep going on, this is just my opinion...

HIROBO is number one in my standings!

I don't own either helicopter but I feel you're being a little harsh on the E-Flite. I feel like playing a little Devil's Advocate here.

Dunno if you have used Lipo batteries before, but they typically charge in just under an hour. The CX2 includes a charger that runs well below capacity for safety and cost-effectiveness. You'd probably have the same problem with the Lama or any heli that includes a free charger. As for flight time, I know Hirobo advertises 15 minutes but a google of some forums suggests it isn't any better than the CX2. Do you have both for a side-by-side?

While there are a lot of upgrade parts available for the CX line, there's no real need to upgrade them. You might consider the metal head main shafts if you have problems breaking the plastic ones, but in the air, there's nothing wrong with the stock setup. Like you said, it flies the same. And if you want to customize, the upgrades are out there.

The Lama appears to be considerably more expensive than the CX2. The price difference would easily buy a second battery and fast charger to get over the charge times.

I imagine some places stock Hirobo repair parts, but none of the shops I've been to have anything but E-Flite and the occasional Ikarus parts. I put some value on being able to score repair parts locally. I can buy parts here 7 days a week so I never get caught short if I have a tip over on Sunday morning.

For these reasons and because of the Spektrum radio bundled with the CX2, I'd go with the E-Flite. Maybe you have some evidence that can sway me?

cx

Hi Fox,
I really did not want to get negative on the E-Flite!
I do understand about the charging if LiPos and that they
set up there charger to be as safe as possible.
I also use LiPos and Lithions for my glo helis
and decided to use my triton on the E-flite LiPo.
After a charge it was right were it had to be and only
took 1hr 14mins.
Besides all that i will not try to talk anybody into
a product we all have to make are own choice?
I will admit that the Hirobo is expensive compared
to the eflite infact twice as much, and parts are very availible.
I also do own both and i just happened to like the hirobo better.

These are to have fun and either heli will give that, i just
went off when reading all posts on people saying get this
upgrade and this upgrade when non are really neccasary!
Also on how many crashes and the stories blamed on the cx
just recieved mind last week and flying it alot (for fun)
and have not come close to crashing or a blade strike!
I even moved the control rod on the horn to get alittle
more cyclic responce which helped.

Bottom line just my opinion i still think the hirobo is
a better flying,Indoor heli. And i mean for the close enviroment
of a house or office. John

Thanks for taking the time to compare. It's a lot more helpful than trying to read through the marketing blurbs on the web and in the Horizon catalog.

HIBORO

The Hiboro you will find it is built with precion, the parts are quiet & run very smoothly. BUT the price is much more. It is a real smooth flyer and not twitchy.
I have both, the CX does keep you on your toes, but manageble.

The stock E-Flite batteries do suck, no doubt. I use a Thunder Power 2s1p 730 Mah LiPo and it is a HUGE difference. The stock pack loses all its grunt 2 minutes into the flight, after that you can only just fly around gently. The TP pack gives a much higher "C" rating and full power is available for 10 minutes or more. Big improvement. I agree the CX actually does fly best when it is all stock, but the upper and lower heads are good upgrades only because they don't break. About the only parts I ever buy are blades nowadays, the other things never really break. Alot of folks say the CX is a "Toy" and as such cannot fly worth a crap. Well those folks are wrong, my cx2 flies very well and can get up and move out at 20MPH on a calm day doing straight acceleration tests. The other thing I like is the fact that you aren't going to kill yourself if you botch a flight and hit yourself ( Don't ask). Plus the furniture stays safe, although I did one time hit the ceiling fan and broke a light with the flybar.

No comparison to the T-Rex of course, but I never fly that inside either

There are so many places to get those batteries, I won't even try, just look up Thunder Power Batteries on google and I'm sure youll get 1000's of hits.

No mods needed it does not fit in the stock location, but fits length wise between the stock holders, not perfectly secure, you can use a piece of tape if needed, I don't and the battery usually stays put until a hard landing.

Yeah, spool-it-up is right, the Hirobo is a better unit than the CX2.
The Hirobo does cost about 50% more than the CX2. For the extra money, you SHOULD get a better unit. For the money, I haven't seen anything that can compete with the CX2.
The CX2 does have the better radio with the Spectrum.
Yes, the CX2 has its quirks. This just adds to the enjoyment and challenge of flying. I find that the tail drift actually makes it easier to learn to fly as it forces you to learn rudder control. When learning I let the heli rotate, in hover, and flew with just the right stick. That seemed to be easier than rotating the heli to learn nose in, right and left side in.
The servo pushrods fit a little tight in the servo arms. I slightly enlarged the holes in the servo arms just enough to eliminate the bind (carefull, it's easy to go too far and get slop). This made the CX2 fly much better. More stable and easier to fly.

I will jump in here as well...

As said... Hirobo is better.. I own one.. have flown the cx2.. it is much better than the cx(1) so nice job on the upgrade.. but it still does not fly like the llama. On the plus side it has a spectrum radio and from what I understand it can be bound to the new DX7 (which I also now have) So the llama is my only heli left on 72mhz.

If Hirobo were to get in bed with Spectrum(not likely) and make a spectrum version.. I might have to have that!

I had the LAMA and it's now on it's forth owner and still going strong. It trained 2 people to fly and now they both fly raptors. Now I'm looking for another toy for inside the house and looking at these Blade CX2 but I think I'll just save my money for a T-rex.

Hmm, this Lama sounds interesting. Could someone post a pic or video here of the exact chopper...? If it's that much nicer, I may get it.
