My Posts This: Topic Forum My Classified Activity My Classified Feedback Add Classified Feedback | I've taken a long look at the EP400 and EP400 XP parts lists side by side. Although the XP looks much like its older brother, the EP400, it's about 80% ALL NEW design.
Nearly the entire rotor system from the pitch slider up to the yoke is new. All the Z-bends are history and the swashplate is now driven by a new radius block with pins as it should have been in the first place. The flybar seesaw has been redesigned to allow it to move freely instead of bottoming out on the collar that had been placed at the bottom of the hub (that collar is now the new radius block).
The aluminum swash looks great and has to run circles around the original plastic one with the plastic balls.
The frames have been changed to move the batteries up front, and inside the canopy, making for a much better CG placement.
The tail rotor system is all new, boom mounted servo, better slide ring for the pitch control and better bellcrank.
All bellcranks and levers will accomodate ball bearings if you want to go that route.
My original EP400 will celebrate its first birthday in a couple of weeks. I've had a ball flying it. The XP looks like it will take what's been a fun, tough heli, and make it fly even better.
From what I can tell, all of the "bugs" I noted in my EP400 Build Thread here on RR have been addressed by Kyosho. For those who said Kyosho didn't care or wouldn't listen to its customers, I'd say they listened very well, and responded with a winner.
Would love to get my hands on an XP to do a side-by-side comparison to see what a difference a year makes... .
