My Benzine is running sweet, almost done with the first gallon. Tweaking my throttle curves with the gv-1. Installed the flybar weights and she is more stable. Thanks to everyone that help me Rene

idle?

I don't have a gas heli but I do know a thing about 2 cycles. I only read to the part about idling a full tank of fuel through it. That doesn't sound like a good idea to me. just run it a little fat on oil. If it call for 50:1 run two tanks or so at 30:1 and try to keep it some what lightly loaded an under 60% throttle. then romp it. You don't want to baby any motor too much during brake in or the ring will never seat. also it won't brake in if it doesn't come up to operating temp as the piston expands when hot. I know this is an old post and your motor is long broken in but just wanted to say something for others braking in there gas motor.

Than don't do it.

I'll stick with Bill Meador's method and idle a tank of gas. My 230 has never even hinted at even a burp towards running bad.

Do what works for you and the rest of us will do what we know works.

doesn't mean it would run bad. brake in is all about optimizing piston to cylinder wall seal which directly effects compression. would not cause it to run poor but cause it to wear out sooner and not be making maximum power. Also a 2-cyc needs fuel flow for oiling (as we all know). idle is when this is minimal. When I run my 2 cycles (jet skis, paramotor, dirt bike, weed wacker) I try to minamize the amount of time they idle. Of course they need to idle some during normal use but prolong should be avoided. There is even a user warning on the jek ski that.

Actually not a good idea if running fully synthetic oil. Okay if you want to run mineral during the ring break-in period but 30:1 fully sythetic will be grossly over-oiling the engine and you may never get the ring to bed in.

I do not personally idle my new gass engines as Bill recommends but I know it does them no harm.

When you break in a Zenoah the only thing you are concerned about is the piston ring bedding into the cylinder wall. If you do not bed in properly, the engine will not run smoothly or produce proper power as you will for ever have excessive blow-by from the ring. The Zenoah rings are hard material bedding into an even harder chrome liner. I always use the mineral oil break in method (36:1 ratio) and it works great for breaking in.

Once broken in I swap to 66:1 Motul and she's good to go for many hours.

Paul.
