BA,
I'm not familiar with British slang, but I guess that means you are to smart to take advise from someone with more experience.

I have a YS 50 that could really use the second plug, the idle needle has to be run real rich so the midrange wont be too lean. DOUG

Below Average,
Sir, I did not intend to criticize your work.
You appear to have done an excellent job of copying a part that does not work.
I was trying to show you how to make it work, but apparently that was not what this thread was about.
Next time I will read more carefully before I reply.

I think he meant to say that you copied a part that dose not seem to work and actually make it work!!!

Proof is always in the pudding, I have seen the difference.

Kangarooster, you post a couple of PICS that I cant really make out and then say that BAs idea does not work, what are you talking about? at least try to explain why you feel the Viper Head does not work?

I dont really understand why do so many people use it and swear by it if it does not work, why do most top flyers use it if it does not work.

I use it on my YS and find it helped me get rid of a drfting gyro problem because of how much smoother the engine runs with it.

So from my perspective it does work.

Zilly you are exactlly right,it does smooth out the engine. It doesn't produce more power like the OS version because the YS head is already that much better than the OS head (and engine for that matter). When you light off the second plug it runs much smoother.DOUG

Zilly,
Sorry about the pic quality. It was all I had readily available.
I just wanted to show the best plug location. Spaced as far as possible ,which requires plugging the origional location.
I have only seen improvement with the Viper head when there was carb or fuel formulation problems or wrong choice of plug.
BA's heads should work similar to Viper's at a much more affordable cost.
He has the opportunity to improve the design.
Also, some of the top flyers that appear to be using Viper heads are not.

MR10X,
If you have to light the second plug, you are not set up right.

I am not trying to start any arguments, just sharing my opinions based on my experiences.

Some people when they don't understand the message choose to shoot the messenger. That is thier decision to make.
I wont post any more unsolicited advise But I will continue to monitor this thread for the benefit of those that have not had the chance to post thier snide remarks.
My customers are happy with the way I build thier engines and that is all that is important to me.
Now I am going out on the back porch and enjoy an adult beverage and listen to the birds sing.

Cheers!

Ok, it makes sense now, get the plugs as far away from each other as possible (helps ensure the flame front goes sideways faster before pushing down on the piston), I cetainly did not click to that just by looking at your photos.

One problem if we relocate the original center plug, it would be very hard to use on most heli's, hard to get a starter onto it and even harder to replace the glow plug at the field

My OS90 with a Bellwood dual plug head runs very smoothly, it idles incredibly slowly and smoothly, the hover is good too. Can't say I notice anything else. The OS50 version made absoluely no difference.
