My Posts This: Topic Forum | You are obviously able to start the engine, it wont start much different with two plugs lit (on my heli's it would be a PITA to connect the 2nd glow)
You will get a much greater improvement in the engine performance but solving the real problem, why is it rich and why does it cut? Wrong glow heat range? Fuel mixture (nitro level)? Carb needs to be stripped and cleaned out maybe Is the ring still black (not worn out)? Once all the above are sorted, then it's tuning.
When you remove the glow battery and then spool up, if you are so rich that it cuts, I would expect both plugs to snuff it. You're engine is currently operating outside the sweet spot.
When you are in the sweet spot two plugs can make it smoother.
When you have two plugs, the redundancy protection is against mechanical failure of the primary plug. There is no real protection from cuts due to being too rich.
I must admit that the ratio of fuel volume to glow area has changed, but I doubt that it will have the effect you want. You need hotter glow or less fuel. If it did work, the engine may be unhappy at idle up RPM.
Every now and again you get a engine that's a challenge, just don't let frustration (or too much enthusiasm) detract from the fundament princpals
